Now, I made a mistake. Monday night I scraped a yellow pole in the parking lot backing up. It bent the bumper and the directional needs to be fixed. Stupid, I know....but it was the first day in twelve years I haven't talked to my wife (separation) and I was a bit distracted. That's my fault. Good thing is..... no tickets, citations, etc.
However, it is Sunday and the truck is still sitting in the dealership lot, not even touched yet. Why? Because Werner was more busy worrying about reports to safety and ignoring what I tell dispatch than getting their communication right. I told DP the following Tuesday morning what happened, and it wasn't until Wed night that the tow truck showed up, which was dispatched five miles up the freaking road. That's because breakdown along with the moronic system of qualcomm messages didn't get the memo that I couldn't drive the truck. Instead, they are calling the shop asking what is going on with the truck, when its not even there yet.
So I spend about $260 in hotel rooms, waiting on the truck (this is ten minutes from NYC, in NJ). Figure it would be done Friday. On Friday night, around 5:30, the parts guy calls me and says Werner never got back to him after he sent the estimate. I walk to the shop Saturday morning (real cool guys there, BTW) and the dude at the desk told me the truck won't be done until Wed at the latest. I said screw it....I took out a $100 advance (my last) because I was broke and spent $90 if it to come home. I can't sleep in the truck because it's in a secure lot, and I'm done forking over cash for crappy hotels. Yeah, I get the money back for the hotels, next week. I made nothing this week. Nothing.
Again, the bumper is on me, my fault. But nothing has gone right with these guys since I started in July. Let's not forget the week I sat in Allentown waiting for a truck because they sold the first one they assigned me, two weeks after it was assigned.
I'm through. I should have taken the job Roehl offered me weeks ago. Maybe OTR is better (I'm on dedicated now) because it will give my wife the space she needs and I won't have to deal with constant runs to the most densely populated areas in the country. I don't even know how I'm going to get back to the truck, but when I do, I'm clearing out my stuff and dumping it in Allentown. And I know Werner will try to screw me on the DAC report but I honestly don't care. Look at their reputation: You think there is a single trucking company out there that doesn't know it?
Between the sitting, the lack of concern and support, the qualcomm that tells me the truck is in motion when I'm sitting there with a smoke and a coffee, the overkill of moronic safety messages...I'm done. I hope dispatch wakes me up tomorrow, I have no problem being cranky in the morning. Even the guys at the shop think its a joke. One of them told me that the first and last thing I should do when the truck is done, is drive it to Werner's front lawn.
I think I will.
That's it, Werner....I AM DONE

Damb Dude, you have alot on your mind, don't you?
mtnMoma Thanks this. -
You scraped a yellow pole and it made the truck non drivable If the directional and a bent bumper was the only damage I think I would have duck taped it and drove on. Unless you did more than just scrap it
Joescheppae Q Thanks this. -
Do not get your dac screwed up. The other companies are not going to care that you worked for Werner. Take the high road and give them a two week notice and bee cool headed and professional.
Hanadarko, Rollover the Original and 123456 Thank this. -
Try to calm down and keep your cool until you get reimbursed for the hotel rooms. Once you do then tell them to shove it.
Lonesome Thanks this. -
Yep that's Werner for you no one cares over there..
-
Yea...you need to leave with class. Of course that's not to say they still won't #### up your DAC (or try to) but don't just leave the rig and walk away or you will be tagged with an "abandoned" and that's bad...really bad...
It will haunt you.JimTheHut Thanks this. -
Yeah, I will do the right thing. Just need to cool down.

Yes seems like in these hard times all these big trucking companies are Exploiting us drivers.
when you do leave weirner Put your truck in shop status for anything, so they dont get you for truck abandonment. -
Some times people drop the ball. I've had Road Maintenance drop the ball once when I blew a tire outside of Louisville and sat on the side of the road for 8 hours before someone came out to change it. Yeah I was mad because it messed up my day but I eventually got over it.
FYI, phone calls work better than QC messages.
