I have a 2004 Westernstar with a Cobra 29 WX NW ST. I have just replaced the antennae with a pair of 4' FireSticks. The old ones were broken from the bases and there seemd to be a lot of noise on receiving. The noise is still there with the new sticks. The truck still has the stock antenna leads. Would it be advisable to swap these out too??
I haven't played with CB's much, just been running stock stuff for years....
Thanks for the help!!

It could benefit you to replace the coax co-phase harness.
If it is damaged, it could be a a source for your noise.
Where do you have the 12 volt power cord connected? -

nevermind, I just reread your post and deleted mine..

If there has just been a lot of noise the last couple of days, it might just be all the skip that's been going on lately. Try turning it on after dark and see if it isn't much quieter.

Sorry, I can't post with my BlackBerry!! Been on the road.
My power is just from the stock plug through the fuse panel and is "key on" power.
I have noticed it makes quite a bit of noise when the knobs are moved, maybe should take the cover off and clean the thing up a bit.
Thanks for the input folks!!

It should help to run your wires direct to the battery, or to a hot point that does not have any relays or anything between the connect point and the battery.
