The THREE S's

I have a question along these lines. What do you do when you get sick. Lets say you are 500 miles from home and you get a stomach bug. At home I lay in bed and go to the bathroom every 15 seconds and normally it is going out both ends. What do truckers do in this situation?

 

You can buy those little bag (solar) showers. Here's how you do it. Fill the thing when you sop at a rest area and place it on the hood of the running truck. If it's a warm day it wil heat in about 10 minutes, on ana average day about 20. If it's real cold find a place with hot running water or carry a gallon thremos and ask the waitress to fill it and mix to your pleasure. Now all you do is put on swim trunks so as to be decent and hang the thing from the truck or a tree, clean up, dry off and change into clean clothes in the truck. You can also buy one of those little rubber bath tub mats for your shower floor. I, for one shower AT LEAST once a day, up to 3 times.

You can also use the bag to heat water to shave.

As for potty, potty, potty all the time time. Carry sanitary wipes for those quick pre-dump clean ups.

As for getting sick, if it's pretty bad, you may have no choice but to call dispatch, declare an emergency and pay for motel to sweat it out.

 

Be sure you truck has amodium a d, a coffee can and tp for emergencies. usually I find rest areas better than truck stops if i'm sick.They don't bug you to move in 8-10 hours.
Been in some nasty truck stops but the worst for a chain has to be Crazy D's.
