The last thing I need is your pity bigblue19 , my clothes are always clean and I treat everyone with respect and professionism , especially our customers and suppliers.
I'm not to worried about being kicked out of trucking , considering what it has become. I can always go back to heavy equipment.
Not to be to negative ,but 1/2 the so called drivers out there would not have made it in this industry back when I started.

Most workplaces are not 40 ton missiles hurtling down the road at 65mph.

Actually the cost of obesity is staggering in are health care system. I could bore you with a nice long list on all the different consequence of obesity. But I would rather you google it yourself.

Drinking and driving has very draconian results in trucking and therefore not much of a problem in trucking. There is also continue data that shows drinking small amount of vine or spirits may have medicinal purposes. You can check the stats on that as well. Smokers pay higher insurance premiums in trucking then non-smokers so their risks have been actuated.

This is not really a why are you picking on me and not the smokers and drinkers issue. It is up to the people who pay out the expenses what guidelines they want to enforce upon the carriers for the lower rates. Benefits are a hiring tool, so if you can provide more of them at a lower premium, you can attract better employees.

It's a totally cost issue for Western. As the owner said oftern "Fat people cost me more money". This went for drivers and office staff. Funny thing, the VP of risk mgt was overweight!

The weight issue policies are soon going to be in a lot more areas of employment and not just trucking.

I have never heard of a company firing a driver for being overweight unless you were like 500 pounds, or something like that, but I am starting with Western Express 10/17/11...I have been out of work for 2 years, so I am glad to take anything I can get my hands on.... A note to aladdin sane, not all overweight truckers or people in general are dirty slobs I shower every day, sometimes twice a day, I am a flatbedder, and I always keep my rig clean, not only for sanitary reasons, but you never know when a snitch is going to target my rig, or someone else's. I know plenty of skinny muscle bound morons who smell like they just got out of a bull wagon. I think DOT is up for a whole lot of lawsuits, if they aren't already.
