Ok so I have been looking into schools close to Nampa, ID I've found 3 Sage (I've heard shady things about them) C.W.I. (In which I would have to pay almost $300 out of pocket upfront) and Swift I've heard some things about them too which I will elaborate on. Today I started all of my paperwork for Swift and all of the threads I've followed make Swift out to be a good company but on the down side I talked to someone tonight that informed me that they can shut your rig down at the 10hr mark I see this as very unsafe and wanted to know if this was true. He also informed me to actually talk to some truck drivers about the company to find out exactly how bad it is, so my question is what experience do you have with Swift, what is your opinion on them and what are the pros and cons.
Need some input on Swift

Been with them over 5 years now, and there are many many more that have been here longer. We are also getting experienced drivers coming back to Swift after being elsewhere. So it can't be all that bad.
They don't shut your truck off after 10 hrs, what a load of c#@p.
Swift, like any company, has its good and bad points. You learn to work within the system of any company and you shouldn't have any problems. Of course the key word is "work".
Edit...instead of looking for how bad it is, why don't you look for the good?bluebonn, DenaliDad and Samueldoss Thank this. -
I am going with swift after I graduate November 18th. I look foward to it. One of my uncles has driven for them for several years and has no complaints

I am looking for both the good and bad I do not expect to see the same problems I just want to get a feel for the company as it is most likely the company I am going with I have been following the flat bed diary for a few days now and I'm really interested in that. Please do not get me wrong I want to see the pros as well as the down falls of the company I'm merely asking for opinions.

Great miles, lots of dedicated options if you're looking to go that way, flexible hometime.
Lack of equipment (trucks and trailers), long wait times for shop work, a tendency to micromanage (this new Plus one thing is ridiculous)inkeper Thanks this. -
WTH is "Plus One?"

My son just went solo with Swift 3 weeks ago.He had a great mentor, and they gave him what he asked for (Regional dedicated)right after testing out.He started with a 2007 Volvo and after he tore a mirror off, they gave him a 2009 Kennelworth. He's liking it and gets home once a week for his resets.

The entire shut the truck down at XX hours is a fairy tale like white sheets, conspicuity tape, late charges, US Marshall's and the like. It is spread by people that have way to much tin foil on their head(or perhaps not enough).
Search Oldnewbiegonnabe. His time at swift would provably be a good example of how to approach it.Even when he was terminated(an event he takes blame for by violating their log policy) he left with respect and dignity. -
Plus one is a dispatching system where the computer tells the driver what time to deliver. In other words, the system sets your ETA for you. The idea is to maximize driver productivity, since we have drivers who will dawdle and dilly dally and deliver at the last possible moment. The Plus one supposedly will stick a crowbar under their butt and get them moving. I don't see it working- if a driver is lazy, then a driver is lazy.

The plus one is tied into your HOS. It can better track you so that they know better as far as a pplan. When you receive your load assignment, you already know what time deliver. It gives the driver a better opportunity to get a possible extra load. . If the driver is lazy and does not want to make money, and make Swift money, fire his butt.
DenaliDad Thanks this.
