So many of these posts seem to be written by people who have no sense of personal responsibility. I think it's endemic in our society, too. We are all entitled to whatever we want, right? Nobody has to work hard, do a full day's work for a full day's pay, right? Nobody has to drive the truck like we all wanted to before we had to drive the truck, right?

Nope. Not right. In doing what I've done for 45+ years, I've learned to appreciate the tools I am given to do my job. They are not obstacles, they are helpers. I can drive a nail with a rock, but having the proper hammer makes doing that task much easier.

So, for me, give me all the automation tools you can. I embrace them and will use them while I drive hard.

    Tazz Thanks this.

I can't speak for anyone's else's experience, of course, but Plus one has already cost me one good load. I accepted a preplan on a 2000 mile load that delivered on a Friday. I go pick it up, and then am told to T-call n Houston. I made a phone call, and my DM said the system decided I couldn't possibly deliver that load before Saturday, and so it was removed from me. A 2000 mile load turned into a 200 mile load because of a computer. Then I sat for the rest of the day doing nothing. Yeah, way to maximize my drive time, Swift.

Y'all can keep that hand-holding garbage. I prefer to use my brain over a computer program, and I can maximize my own drive time.

    Injun and inkeper Thank this.

So I found out bright and early this morning that Swift wont hire you or put you through school unless you're 23 I'm 22 in 13 days so I'm still a year off of their requirements, bummer I've been told Gordon will hire me as I'm 21.

My experience wit Swift so far

    Good

    • lots of miles and freight
    • not had any problems with pay
    • gotten me home on time so far
    • Insurance is not that bad, paid more for less in the past
    • Not ever had them ask to run illegal or with equipment that was not up to par (couple friends that went with others have had this issue)

    Bad

    • Shops are slow (try and go into shop under load it helps motivate them)
    • Idle policy
    • Sometimes just outright retarded fuel routes, have had it route me 120 miles longer just to come back to same toll road with paper rolls in back to save $32 in tolls (ignored that suggestion for what its worth)
    • Listening to people who are clueless ##### at truck stops cause they remember the 1 moron, not the 100 other Swift trucks that they saw that same day

Is Swift on the sliding pay scale?

Does swift allow u to drop the trailer with a pinlock so u can park the truck at the house? I live 5 miles from a small truckstop where there is plenty of space for the trailer and can park the tractor in my driveway.
