Do you even of you even know how a big rig backs into a parking spot? When a big rig backs into a truck stop parking spot it blocks the traffic. Trucks can not get passed till the truck is almost completely backed in during that process there is no traffic movement. How does the kid get in danger of being run over when they are only spotting and then getting in the truck when there is no moving traffic?
My father was a logger when I was growing up. I worked with him a lot when I was just a little kid, basically as soon as I could walk I was earning my keep. Its the same with kids who grow up on farms, ranches or most big family businesses. The work that all these kinds of kids do is so much more dangerous than what that little girl was doing. Why dont you try calling the cops on every working family you come across in your travels in the United States? Because it just makes no #### sence! There is a hint of danger but its small, and the parents do use good discretion based on there professional knowledge, and there knowledge of there kids abilities and how they know there child will react and perform. I assure you non of these parents,s the trucker father included, would never ever put there kid in danger. A kid who gets out of a truck when traffic is completely blocked and stopped is completely and safely able to spot there dad backing in. Look at how much more proficient kids are around computers than most adults. Its because they are fast learners, and adapt and learn quickly to an environment that for them is constantly changing.
Big companies like Swift, Crengland, Crst, ets.... get thousands of calls re guarding the stupidity of there many stupid drivers each day. One complaint to them is a needle in a haystack. Complaining to them is pointless, just a way for people who do drivers doing stupid acts to vent, so they can get it off there chest and feel good about themselves. Better to complain to the company and feel good about it, then to not have that option and start calling the police and having the company really look bad.
If you were concerned with that childs well being then you should, and would have called the police right then and there. You didnt call the cops. It means there was no really big issue that would have had any merit to it, yet you felt the whistle blower nark need to make yourself feel good or powerful whatever narks get out of tattling and did the only other option available to you.

I think what he was talking about was the fact that the little kid was on the drivers blind side......he could have ran over his own kid....

LOL, your messing with me right?? If the kid was spotting for her father, the father was relying on and watching his daughter the whole time for directions. The second the kid disappears the truck stops. Thats the way most all truckers behave around any pedestrians and even cars. You see a person walking and that person disappears you stop the truck, a person walking in a truck stop while you are moving slowly disappears in a blind spot you stop till you see that person again. A car on the freeway goes into a blind spot and disappears, you dont change lanes till you are see that car again and are 100% certain it is clear. A father will take 100 times that much more caution being its his daughter, than is exercised by him every day dealing with daily activity with people walking, jogging, bike riding, cars in blind spots ets.
Im sure you are just messing with me, but in the event you arent let me just say YIKES!. A person or a car disappears from your view you just keep on rollin and hope for the best?? I really really hope you are messing with me. -
nevermind.....

this is whats wrong with America today
when i was around 10 years old I had chores around the house and my dads work shop I was stacking cords of wood mowed the grass took the trash out clean the shop floor etc. etc.
and by the time I was 12 was on my way to starting a lawn mowing business. That my father loaned me 125 dollars to buy a toro push mower and I had to pay that money back in 1 summer and I did.
when I turned 25 my father gave me a letter for my birthday with the original 125 dollars and the hand written loan agreement we made when I was 12.
8 bucks in quarters 47 dollars in 1 dollar bills and Three 20 dollar bills and 1 10 dollar bill.(I will never spend this money)
I plan to do the same thing with my son.
Most of the citizens of America are soft not hard like our fathers my father was a hard man to deal with but he was a fare man there was no back talking or doing your job half ### you did it right the first time or else.
I have a 10 year old son and I would not think twice about asking him to spot me to back in somewhere. And I feel if your 10 year old son or daughter can not do this simple thing then you are a bad parent and are doing a disservice to you child.
Take the pacifier out and start raising you kid the way your are suppose to.
We need to get back to being Americans not bumms with our hands out to anyone that will put something in it for free.
Nothing is Free in life you have to pay one way or the other. -
Gbossman I totally agree with you,if parents now a days would teach their kids about hardwork & earning their keep then maybe kids today might be self reliant.Instead you have kids whining about a cell phone or video games & respect for their peers has gone out the window...unbelievable(my apologies if I
went off topic) -
Hmm, last I looked, we had to declare passengers, provide ID and cover them with insurance. If I remember correctly, all riders had to be 16 and over.
Don't get me wrong, my dad had us on the truck. We had to scurry under the dash, or ride in the trailer, at weigh stations. He wanted to take my daughter on the truck, just as soon as she was potty-trained. My parents friends lived on the truck and took their baby. All of that was a long time ago.
We went as a family and we worked. We packed, did inventory and hauled furniture. Truck Stops were dangerous for many reasons. Spotting Daddy while backing, was never on the list.
I don't even spot my husband while he's blind-backing an over-sized load. I might look in the mirror and say, "Nope, try again." He's one of those guys that jumps out and looks, opens the door to get a better view, and he wiggles. I've watched him line up to too many cattle chutes.
Hope you did call safety. My husband is a CRST/Malone driver and we don't need that crap. -
These snitching, gutless to speak in person "do gooders" annoys me like nothing else. This country is already fake, asocial and devoid of direct human interaction Prozac popping hellhole, we just cannot communicate with each without mediation of the agencies both public and private, we need to legislate every freaking step, every breath we make.
I don't know what were the dangers to a child, but snitching like this helps no one, except maybe TS. Getting out and helping/objecting at the right moment - NO, snitching after a fact - YES. It's because of people like TS this country will become unfit for human habitation pretty soon, it's barely habitable without mind altering substances (including electronics) as it is, let's just snitch at each other at every corner, and record every conversation or having a lawyer standing by. -
What's the big deal? #### kids need to earn their keep!
