Sounds unanimous re: getting the CDL permit before going to Prime. Thanks to all. I may make an effort to take the test this week.
-
The CDL books for all states are online--just search for them. And there are many sites with practice CDL tests. Use them. Remember, it's just a knowledge test, the first step that must be taken. Another poster told me that if you go to Prime without a permit, you will have only 24 hours to prep for the test--while you are being bombarded with all kinds of other information. Methinks 'tis better to do it while able to control the flow of "information" coming out of the fire hose!

Sounds like my first day at boot camp.

I said that, n its LESS than 24 hours actually. Test is Wednesday morning, you get the booklet Tuesday afternoon. The Missouri manual is on their website, I went to cristcdl.com for practice tests.

drivers, working otr does the differant time zones ever screw you up as far as delivery times or just not knowing what time it is?
-
I set my GPS to Central... that's "truck time" at the home terminal. My cell phone gives me local. All appointment times are in "local." So... when doing trip planning, I change all of my appointment times to "truck time" and figure things out from there... then convert back to local as necessary.
When dealing WITH the appointments during pickup and delivery, its always off of my cell phone time.
And yeah, you have to be aware of it... Prime is a real stickler for being "on-time."Cuban_P Thanks this. -

You pick it up from your trainer after you get your CDL.
