THANK YOU!!!!
Finally someone who see's through the bull like a few others and I.
We had Sheila Stanford from Covenant come and talk to our Training class at National. Our whole class pointed out that Covenant pays the lowest rate out of three previous companies that have come before her.
She didn't know what to say! lol
She was just like, Y'all gotta look out for some companies that pay your a lot per mile then lower the rate the more miles you drive. Plus we hated that Covenant makes you team.
Anyway, not to get off topic here, Roehl does offer good pay and treates their drivers pretty well for being a Starter Company. Although from what I've gathered Roehl may be a starter company, but it's one of those starter companies that you might stay with for a long time just because they treat their drivers better than some companies out there, mainly the bottom feeder companies.
Two guys in My class are going to Werner. I kept my mouth shut and gave everyone in the class the address to this forum to get good info on companies.
There's honestly 3 other people in my class that are going with Roehl. Not because what I told them, but because of what they read on this site. -

2300 is not a good average unless it is at .45 or more per mile. If you are working OTR you should be pulling in at least 900d to 1k per week on miles.
Think about it. 2300 miles in even a 5 day week is only 460 miles per day or around 8-8.5 hrs per day. In a 7 day period 328 miles or 5.5 to 6 hrs of work per day. You have enough hrs in a week that- you should be averaging no less then 2500-2800 miles per week for average miles. Anything less and you are being underutilized.
I don't care how nice a OTR carrier is. I am not going to live on the road and not get at least average miles.
When I started driving no one was bragging about a 2300 mile average and most drivers would of quit in disgust with those numbers. Now I see drivers and trucking company doing it like it was a good thing, which would only be the case if it was high pay per mile.diesel_weasel Thanks this. -
As long as I make enough miles to pay my bills and put back a little for savings then I'll be happy. I'd rather make 2300 miles/week and get treated well rather than 2800-3000 miles/week and be treated like junk.
I'm not saying all companies that give you plenty of miles will do that, I'm just speaking from generalities. -
Seriously, whether Roehl is right for you or not depends on how much experience you have and your personality. They tend to try to micromanage their drivers, so if you are a pretty independant person with your own ideas on how to do things Roehl will drive you nuts. If you want to just drive your truck and leave all the other stuff up to someone else, Roehl may be a good fit. They tend to be low in the mileage department, but they run safe and legal. I can't say I've ever had any major issue over pay.Last edited: Oct 21, 2011
