You say you did, but I remember when the series 60 came out alot of drivers got excited and got on the cb and announced that they had a cat killer, cat guy would say where you at hand ?, detroit guy, oh you don't want none of me i'm going the opposite direction as you, cat guy, thats ok, I'll turn around.

All those large cars pullin reefers at high speeds, most of them are big cats too. Did you see the truck show this year ? Enough yellow in there to paint the white house.

CAT has not made a real motor since the 1693, the motor that made their reputation. They have gone downhill since.

Just got out of an '08 Pete with the ISX. Other than the problems with the DPF and turbo I had no complaints. When those two items were working right the truck would pull its ##### off and had very decent top end. Now I'm in a '99 Pete with a 60 series. Hit a tall bridge today runnin 75 and topped it at 40. I pulled the same bridge with the cummins and never came out of overdrive. Its not the engine its all the crap they're putting on them thats killin them.

This guy is a blowhard. An obvious ignorant person who is strangely fixated on bagging on Cummins. I think he may be upset because hes been beat by a Cummins and this is how he gets revenge. Ive encountered many blowhards who display this "know it all" belligerent attitude, who are more interested in bellowing their opinion, and cannot or will not be able to have a meaningful, accurate conversation about engines. lol run into it all the time at the drag strip.

My ISX (450 HP /1650 ft. lbs. torque, 3.55 gears I believe) most of the time will outpull a LOT of trucks I pull hills with. Even though I'm governed at 64, my truck will pull nicely within the torque band and pull a bit into the higher rpm HP range. mmmhmm. Also my truck does not have the light load governor, when I'm empty I can seriously haul ##### with some fast well timed shifts.

I was in Washington DC grossing 79k, and this nice loud longnose Pete passes me (Van- 80,000 gross truck), he gets on the CB and says, get that 60 mph governed POS off the road. I ignored him. Hes ahead of me, we start pulling the hill, I pass him...so I got on the CB and asked if he wanted me to call a tow truck to help him get up the Hill. He grumbled something and then asked me if I was running a Cummins, I said yes, then just silence as he passed me a mile or so later on the downside.

Sometimes its more the driver that knows how to drive his truck moreso than anything else. Either that or I got a bad**s truck, take your pick. :)

Yea,ok........I dusted many large cars with a yellow engine with that series 60.And i was pulling a reefer.
It would run and i had the ticket for 121 mph on I-80 in Nevada to prove it.( cost 2k to get rid of that ticket)
I doubt you have ever driven a "real" triple digit truck anyway.
If you are doing west coast turns i take it you are team in a company truck?
I did the west coast running solo back in those days and was home every weekend.

Nothing wrong with the old cat engines, yes some would run really good but were expensive to fix.
I sold the truck with the Detroit with 900k on it and it still run just fine.

I really don't care what color is under my hood now as long as the truck is making me money....All of the new trucks are choked down with emission crap so it is what it is......

First of all you do not have a bad ##### truck, 450 hp and 1650 torque is garbage, I used to drive roll off trucks with more power then that. 2nd if that is the best you have ever driven I feel sorry for you.

Next time your in the truck stop find the baddest truck in there, then look between the fender and the steer tire and look at that yellow motor.

Ever watch the show American Trucker, all the large cars there like project one and others are 800 to 1000 horse cats. They could have used any engine they wanted, guess what they picked............. thats right meeoww.

The trucks you outpull are company trucks, owner operator with cat will blow by you like your backing up. And yes I bag on cummins cause its a cummins, They didn't get the nickname come apart for nothing. There are cummins that will run, but they have the piss turned out of them to do it.

Just think how much better it would run with the egr unplugged, blocked off and removed from the ecm as well as dpf crap, and if I had the choice I would take your 2001 any day, just some minor tuning would get you 800 hp or better.

Kracker and you are one. Lets see your Might Mechanical Cats beat this setup when CAT would not allow anyone access to their Fuel systems. 444 Cummins with a Modified Fuel Pump Oversized Turbo and Injectors Retorfitted with an Air to Air Intercooler and High Flow Cooling System. Stats were on the Fuel System Max Pressure of 720 PSI and 500 GPH of flow when needed. Max Turbo Boost was 60 PSI. On a Chassis Dyno rated for 720 HP at the Ground this engine SNAPPED the DYNO with Pressure in BOTH the Turbo and Fuel system left. The Man running the Dyno estimated based on the numbers on the Computer that she had 850HP to the Ground at MAX and over 1000 at the Flywheel. Not bad for an Engine that you call a POS. BTW I was the DRIVER of the Truck this thing was MOUNTED in and got 6 MPG when I did not need the Power and 4.5 when I did need the power aka Spanking BIG Cats like they were nothing.

I used to run to Philly with Bolt Blanks come back with honey for a local food plant near me. Well climbing Snowshoe in PA would always be playing with a few Steel haulers with so called BIG Cats On e time I was 1/2 mile behind them I was 1/22 Mile ahead of them at the top going I thought your Kittys were Big I should have thrown out the tow cable if your that slow.

Ceteris Paribus....Cummins and Cat are the same.

Little experience with Detroit, so no comment concerning them.
