Cant wait to get started next month. Im going to learn to drive truck like I did a car in the winter...lol Another good thing is if freight does slow down a little in some of those months ill still be in training and it wont affect my pay.

does prime have any kind of refresher program?
i have been out of trucking a little over 3 yrs but want to get back into it,
i have 2 yrs otr. -
Call a recruiter and they can tell you what youll have to do. Only a recuriter can tell you for sure

You might have to start over again with prime, which means that you will have to surrender your cdl and get the cdl permit and go thru the training phase which is free if you stay a year or you could go back to truck driving school and do the full course there and come to prime, but will still have to go thru training phase. To get more info on this you can go to the forum jump at the bottom of the page and click on it then chose prime from the drop down list and go to ask your questions about prime here and click on it.

This is what I had to do for Prime and every other big Carrier out there. I had 7 yrs previous OTR expierence. But had a long time since I had Driven OTR.
Call Prime ask them if they have any accredited schools in your state that they hire from.
Then you will need to have at least a 160 hrs in a refresher course.
Then the company that hires you will put you with a trainer.
The only big company out there that wouldn't hire from the refresher course, that I found was, CRETE. -
Howdy from Colorado. Had to jump in and share the news. I was approved for Prime's training on Friday. Very quick response from Danielle from recruiting. Just need to decide on a start date.
I have followed this thread and site for some time as I was deciding on a career change. I certainly appreciate all of your comments, both positive and negative, and find the encouragement resfreshing.
My decsion was helped along by being layed off from the Air Force and not gettting a contractor job. I am a Reservist that has been on active duty orders for the last 7 years, and the orders were not renewed. I am a satellite operator, and will remain in the Resrves while working for Prime. I plan on being a company driver.
For now..
