I'm not trying to give any lip but I've learned that speed is overrated in this business. The last company I drove for didnt govern their trucks. The computer print out on mine said it was set at 128mph. In two years that truck never ran over 73 mph. There were speed demons there that would run 80 and 90 mph to get unloaded first. I'd pull up to deliver and they'd still be unstrapping. I'd get the same amount of loads as them and my truck was hardly in the shop. I never had to go see the boss with a speeding ticket in my hand either. He actually called me one day to ask if my truck was running ok. I said yes sir, why? He said he'd been watching our speeds and I never ran over 75 mph. I said thats right. If I have to run that fast to deliver a load I should've left yesterday.

TMC is a great company,,,worse thing about them is the Tarp pay,,,very low, in fact the lowest in the industry... they are somewhat anal but no big deal in my opinion.
I had a plan to do 3 plus months with TMC than go to Keen...talked to a lot of Keen drivers and I love heavy haul... good luck

i dont need to do 128, but if the sign says 65 im doing 65 if it says 70, 75, 80 i intend to do that too.

    62 x 11 = 682
    73 x 11 = 803

    121 miles

Government says i can drive 11 hours a day, as long as im being paid by the mile i intend to drive as many miles as i can within my 11 hours....

you can go slow all you want, i dont live in a truck 1000's of miles from home for weeks for free, or to save a company that makes millions a yr a few $$'s on fuel :biggrin_25513: not unless im getting paid = what im loseing in productivity to slow down :biggrin_2558:

Keen's website says "must be willing to stay out 21 days". That would eliminate your desire for weekends.

    What about McElroy?

If I ever become a trucker, they are high on my list.

Best bet plus keen or a local construction outfit,. Speed won't matter unless your doing more than 600+ mile loads, which most of the big flatbed outfits don't do.

i stay out 2-3 months at a time now, anthing more often then that is an improvement, and did you see keens payscale? 21 days is worth that.

I've never heard a good thing about McElroy
