He's been gone about four weeks, hoping to see him in the next two cause he has a court date he can't miss. He's having a really bad experience with the coach for Trans Am. I real pig, won't shower, wash his clothes or bedding, nasty truck, picks his feet and eats what he finds OMG! This so called coach cheats on his log books, has scratched up three different trailers, taken out two other trucks side mirrors cause he can't back worth a ####. He's mooched money, cigs and food off my ole man, hasn't paid anything back yet he's making all this money off all the miles my ole man has driven while he's only making $350 week before taxes and child support and draws comes out. So far he's sent $150 home for bills. Someone please tell me it's going to be better once he's in his own truck or did we just make the biggest mistake of our lives and need to tell the landlady we won't have our rent on time.

Welcome! First of all, I am quite sure that all coaches (trainers) are NOT like the one he has, I think,(no I know) I would be throwing up from the smell of such a nasty driver and truck. I'm not a driver, but would think that once he's in his own truck things will be a lot better (they really have to be just to get away from the disgust). I hope your fiancee' makes it back in time for his court date. Take care and keep us posted.

Why has he not called the company and requested a new trainer? As for him only sending home $150 and you not making rent thats not the trainers fault its his!

It's hard on a new driver the first 6-12 months. He'll be making about 60% the going rate plus paying the school back. Everything pretty much costs double in a truck stop. He can spend $200 a week easy. More if he smokes. Then him paying child support? He got tight finances cut out for him. One really has to watch their money on the road and live out of Walmart and cook their own food.

I've seen many new drivers blow their money as fast as they get it. Sometimes faster because they can get advances. They see all the toys they can buy and they go crazy. Only a financially responsible person does well on the road.

In about a year things will get better' The money is in LTL freight like UPS or Conway.

Maybe you can help by taking a job for a year until he gets the real money rolling in??

The bad trainer thing? I would talk with the company and let them know.

If he's hitting stuff and taking off, they would fire him if they knew.

    eddyswife Thanks this.

trans am? i'd say he just made the biggest mistake of his life.

he couldn't do any better than trans am?

hope you're going to like living in the truck.

sorry sweetie but that's the sad truth. just look up trans am on the forum and read the posts. don't take my word for it.

No I don't blame the trainer for that one, I blame the company and it's low wages, am just hoping that once he's in his own truck it picks up quick.

Yeah too bad I didn't find the forum until now. And no he has other applications out with other companies but they called first and his previous job situation was so bad that is why he went to get his CDL in the first place. Now he just wants to put his time in so that he can qualify for something better.

Thankfully he is good with budgeting his money, realizes he's going to have to pay his dues, not be home much and not eat out. It's been a very frustrating day to say the least and I can't wait til the end of this week when he makes it back to the terminal to let the company know what kind of "coach" they have training their new drivers. It's such a joke! And I don't mind working, I just havn't found anything, it's crazy trying to find a job here! But everyday I am putting in applications hoping that something comes up soon. In the mean time I am picking things up at thrift stores and garage sales and selling them online. I just got going with it but used to sell books online and was pretty successful with it.

He hasn't requested a new trainer because that puts him behind in getting into his own truck and starting to make a wage based on his mileage vs their training pay.
