First things first, trucks use Diesel Fuel, not gas, I learned that very quickly on the road with the hubby, LOL.
Stevens provides you with a 'fuel card' which is used to pay for your fuel. If you drive for the company side, it is paid for 100%; if you are a lease-operator or owner-operator, you use your fuel card to pay for your fuel, then the cost of the fuel is deducted from your 'settlement'. A good l/o or o/o ends up paying very little for fuel, however, because Stevens pays fuel surcharge on all loaded miles. With good fuel mileage, you can end up paying less than 10 cpm, which would equal 70-80 cents per gallon, a far cry from the $3 plus on the pump.
Stevens pays for the Reefer fuel 100% for all drivers.
Hope this answers your question.Corporal_Clegg and DenaliDad Thank this. -
Yep, got flight and on the yard now. Got my truck assignment and hopefully rolling soon once they get the truck's issues squared away. I dunno if trucks are assigned by luck of the drawl but ended up with a 2011 Cascadia with 178k on him. His name is Clyde btw...

Took a while, but got the QC message: OK to accept load with 'Driver Count'. You will not be responsible for any shortage.'
Got as far as Tucumcari and repowered for a load heading to PA.
Got as far as Oklahoma for the night, and when I got out of the truck this morning, I realized it was time to bring the ol' coat out of hibernation.
Just coming into Joplin. Skys re now gray...looks like we're heading into the belly of the beast!
Where are my gloves... -
Congrats on the truck assignment, hopefully they will get him squared away and get you rolling soon. Maybe we will see you and Clyde on the road soon.mistermino Thanks this.

Well, we've been 'stuck' in Breezewood, PA all day. Agreed to do a repower on a meat load which turned out to have 3 drops with-in 150 miles of each other, but spread out over 2 days. My hubby was told it had 2 drops, so naturally assumed they both delivered today. He was also told that a Pre-Plan would be lined up for us. After we found out about the '3 drops over 2 days' we were told it would be repowered off of us after we made the first drop, so we hauled 'tail' across and arrived an hour early. Guess what, no repower. 'Someone' also forgot to line up a load for us in case it couldn't be repowered. Next available load won't be ready until Friday morning. So we are getting 750miles for 2 1/2 days.
Going to be another "great" week for a full team. -
Thanks for your answer... And sorry about the "gas" i meant to say fuel or diesel sorry
But Thanks again for your answer..
Be safe out there...... -
Good morning from the yard. Hustled and droPped my load at kraft and headed for the yard. Timing is everything. Fan clutch started blowing air all over the safety lane. So more than a couple of minor repairs need to figure out what is going on with the fan clutch too.

LOL, I knew that you probably just had a 'slip' by saying 'gas', just couldn't resist. I called it gas for the longest time when I first got on the truck with the hubby. He was constantly reminding me.
You're very welcome for the info, ask any other questions you have, someone will respond, usually very quickly.
And thanks, always having to watch out for the 'other guy' out here. -
TLea...you're right. Timing is everything.
Lost my compressor in Denver about a month ago at a receiver. Was able to limp over to TA and get it replaced.
Enjoy the yard. I'm going to be in there in about three weeks. Hopefully I don't see you there...
