Pretty sure if you know you snore, and you say you don't, that's considered falsifying information on the app...and we all know where that leads....

How do you know if you snore? Ask your bedmate. If, like me, you don't have one, here are some things to consider: If you are overweight, there is a good chance that you snore. If you consume alcohol before bed, there is a good chance that you snore. There are other indicators, too.

They do the sleep test on the 2nd floor of the Campus Inn during the first 4 days that you are there.

BMI over 39, neck size, snoring, tonsils, and adenoids are just a few things that they look at. I know just as many thin people that have sleep apnea as us bigger people. It’s not just a weight thing.

I’ve been told by a few people and seen some post saying that if you have medical insurance it may be cheaper for you to do it before you go. So it might be worth looking into.

As far the CPAP machine goes, I’ve been using mine every single night since I got it on 09/22/11. I cannot and will not sleep without it. My quality of sleep has increased dramatically, I no longer snore and I don’t wake up tired or with a head ache. The two times that I have taken a 15 minute nap without it. I woke myself up snoring and gasping for air. Once was at the Millennium Building in the leather chairs by the stairs (sat 9/24/11). I guess I startled a lot of people because when I woke up everybody in the area was staring at me in shock. LOL:biggrin_2556:

I hope more people become more open minded about the sleep test and the CPAP machine. I hear more people, myself included say that they wish they had done this years ago.

You've spoken a mouthful, McBjork. It all comes down to stupid male pride. We just don't want to admit that we might not be perfect human specimens...until we do and discover we can actually sleep better. Thank you for sharing!

How big are you? I ask because I am a big myself and I am hopefully starting class Monday. I just want to make sure they don't automatically send you home if you are over a certain BMI or Neck Size?

No, you don't "automatically get sent home." They may order a sleep study, and if you fail that, order you to use a CPAP. Refuse either of those, yes, you'll go home. Fail the whizz quiz, or your permit tests 3x? Go home. Falsified info or left out stuff, go home.

6' 305lbs BMI 41.4 (BMI of 39, among other things triggers sleep test), when I asked my recruiter she said if they didn’t hire us large people they wouldn’t have many emploees. When I was at the Millennium Building I saw what she meant. :biggrin_25524: I was about the middle of the bunch. :biggrin_2554: I saw some scary big guys, funny thing is a few of the big guys I was talking to didn't have sleep apnea; but was complaining that every physical they had to take the sleep test anyway.:biggrin_25513:

    Hope this helps
