LOL, I had to stock my own truck too. Took every brand new item I could. Still have my new Lumber tarps and all of my new chains and straps. I keep a few "used" straps for any load that I may have to relay. Steel tarps??? a whole different story. I finally got rid of my swiss cheese tarps for a set of.... swiss cheese tarps. Steel tarps just suck, plane and simple. Too many of us, me included, don't use enough extra tarps scraps to keep the steel tarps from getting rips.

Welcome to the flatbed family. :biggrin_25514::biggrin_25514:
You can now officially ignore all door swingers! :biggrin_25525::biggrin_25525:

Hey Roehl gang, ya'll help me figure one out. Hopefully it's not as obvious as I think it will be. Due to graduate Nov. 10 from school, got all paperwork completed, Cheryl sent me the conditional offer of employment and set up the DOT physical. Completed it today, no problems except....the stupid BMI and neck measurement. BMI was supposed to be 75 or less - mine 76, neck size was supposed to be 17 or less - mine 17 3/4. I thought GREAT! Then cussed several times, most out loud. The question, does this really mean I'm headed for a sleep apnea test?? I don't have that crap....Dr. signed off on a 6 month card cause that's what the instructions said to do. What do ya'll think?? Otherwise, trying like the devil to get into orientation / training ASAP, looks like the quickest would be the 21st. Going to Ellenwood.

Well I am all finished with securement training here in Marshfield. It was a good course I think. Fast paced but packed with info. Gung Ho was a bit much but when you think of the damage we could cause by not securing the freight in the right way you can see why. He taught me a lot.

We finished up around 5pm and I ate dinner and basically hit the rack. I don't think I made it to the hour point of my movie. lol. I spoke with my fleet mgr right after class ended and she told me they were still looking for a load heading east for me. She told me she was coming in Saturday morning and to wait to hear from her.

I am excited to get out there on my own. Excited but nervous too. To be expected I guess. I have learned a hell of a lot from the Roehl trainers. Thanks. I hope to use what I have learned out on the road on a daily basis. I am sure the next phase of real world learning is about to begin. I am psyched.

Well I am doing some laundry while I have the chance here in Marshfield. I am sitting up in the drivers lounge and typing away on my netbook. Figured I would get a shower and laundry done before setting out, hopefully later today.

Stay safe all. See you on the road. More to come...

there are other factors to consider like a restricted airway, chances are if
if you meet most or all of the criteria you will have to do a sleep study.
I didnt think I had sleep apnea either, but two back to back sleep studies
proved otherwise. Its painless and you will feel better, and be able to be a alert safe driver. good luck to you !

Good job Shots, welcome to the team, door swingers included... I will swing doors til the snow is done, then go back to flats if things pick up. Be careful with everything that you do, it is easy to mess yourself or someone else up out there. Don't be afraid to give a fellow flatbedder a hand with tarps or something. Most of our drivers will sit in there truck and watch you struggle with your stuff. Get out and help the guy ahead of you, it gets him out of your way quicker, and you get to see different ways of doing things and you keep learning... Just advice from an old flatbedder, now door swinger. :biggrin_2559:

I have every intentions on helping out my fellow flatbedders. What goes around comes around I say. Karma. I saw that in my trainers too. We helped out a couple of guys along the way and I will continue that trend too.

I got my first load assignment today. Its a van run since thats all they had heading my way but I dont mind. I was going to head out today but there were no empty trailers to hook up to here in Marshfield. I actually got beat to the last empty by like ten minutes! I called the weekend fleet mgr and he told me to just wait till morning and if there still isnt any to call again. I was going to get a head start but oh well. I watched Hot Tub Time Machine. What a riot!

Well I am going to watch another movie and hit the rack. I hit the road solo tomorrow! Hopefully I will meet some of you guys on the road. Safe driving!
