I was hitting and getting hit by lots of places down south. I was even able to contact south Florida on 19 today. It is usually tough to break through all the noise on 19. I am going to have to start writing down the contacts and keeping a log of them. It is kinda fun for a little while when waiting to get loaded.
But I have been having the most luck on channels 22, 25,26 and 28. Getting some hits on 19 but they don't come easy.
The bad thing is that local comunications are suffering. One of our drivers called me at home and was wondering why he can't talk to other drivers more then a mile away and he can't pick them up farther then that either. He said he was hearing all kinds of chatter that were no were near us. I just laughed and went on to explain about skip and what was happening and that most everyone has either their RF gain turned down or the squelch dialed back to get rid of the extra noise.
Holy Skip batman

I took a little ride on the Ultra Friday and was getting all kinds of skip on 19. First time I ever heard that on the bike.

Yelled twice and got replies both times, today. I'm talking on a barefoot Grant XL behind an IMAX 2000. I got BC Canada and Nova Scotia sitting from Southern Missouri. Skip is definitely rolling. I like it!

I can't stand it, at all. It makes it hard to do business and talk to people more than 1/2 mile away...and I've got a good radio. I spend most of my time on CH 30, but it's pretty prevalant everywhere. ANNOYING!!!!
josh.c Thanks this. -
I agree with Gambi80, I work in the woods, and communication is crucial, but you have to admit it is pretty neat when you holler "anyone coming out" and someone 5000 miles away answers
