Well in the Southeast we have mostly Pilgrims plants but they aren't on the program YET, so for now we will be hauling more pork and beef.
From what I was told, (not what I heard, but what I PERSONALLY was told from Greeley) as we get back to hauling more JBS loads, JBS USA actually pays JBS Carriers extra for the long deadheads, so why would we take some measly broker load when we can make more hauling our own freight!..........
Jarhed1964 Thanks this. -
i was never goin after you harley, what program jbs trucks load at pilgrims all the time boaz sumter enterprise..im not arguing im asking ? in a month or two deadheading all over isnt gona be so appealing....i know i t boned one doin it 6 yrs ago, again i have no problem with you harley just dh that far kinda unusual....Last edited: Oct 29, 2011

Yeah it will take some time to work back into doing mostly JBS loads, but talk to some of the drivers that were here in the beginning of JBS and they will tell you it was not unusual to DH more than a 1,000 miles all the time.
10-4 on that! I am not looking forward to deadheading thru West Virginia tomorrow as they are calling for 6 inches of snow! But it beats sitting and waiting for a crappy 400 mile load to somewhere else! -
i hear ya dude. gota do what ya gota do.. i come across wrong, sarcastic, bitter, sometimes....... BUT FOR REAL BECAREFUL MAN,,, no load is worth it !
hazmat777 Thanks this. -
I think!!!!! If that is ok with Fox Fire. That most of those long dead heads is from over booking, and JBS trying to cover their butt.
I do remember Cargil paying my old company to dead head us from PA around the Holiday's and Swift use to pay my company to dead head from Ft. Worth.
Ya I don't mind all that DH in the Spring and summer time. But I will be refusing loads over 300 miles dh when its snow and ice.
Load was suppose to deliver @ 2300 tonight, and At 2300 I was pulling in to Green Bay for an A service. Pretty productive day. You guy's have a good night and keep the shiny side up!!!DocHoliday and Scooby379 Thank this. -
I wouldn't say its from overbooking as it was pretty much the standard operating procedure back when we were a private carrier and if thats what they are trying to get us back to then expect it to continue

im not arguing with anybody...ok but hauling mostly jbs loads isnt that hard, not all the dh is necessary...... i have a buddy a o/o loads at cactus delivers jacksonville fl deadheads to sumter sc to sunnyvale tx... an gets a non jbs load back to amarillo..,...he been doin that almost ever week for 2 yrs..... an there are many more do same thing to conyers or norcross an reload out of gainesville or boaz....so im gona go with the overbooking theory...but who knows, time will tell

My Two cents, it is a combination of JBS USA management making a very clear statement when they Let Mo Schroter go, Which was very simple JBS is a Private carrier designed to haul our Product, and JBS Carriers will haul more JBS Product, DH and losing money is not the issue at all. Think about this If they put the product on their own trucks, they can better control the rate they pay other companies. They (the owners) do not care is JBS Carriers loses money if they are hauling JBS Product, if we are hauling broker loads and losing money ( not covering fuel and driver pay) then it is a HUGE issue to them.
Overbooking is not the major issue, what is happening now is Pork is picking up, corporate has put the pressure on all divisions to use JBS Carriers trucks more, in some instances load planners had loads planned for trucks in Texas last weekend, drivers ended up deadheading to Marshalltown to cover loads that Pork put on them.
JBS Corporate has a huge say in these things now.
Last year this time the DH was 1200-1400 miles, by Christmas I was DH anywhere from 1400-1900 miles no issue. Boston to Worthington, back to Boston and DH right back to cover pork loads.
I know it sounds crazy but this happens every year this time.
Also Poor load planning. If you know you need 20 trucks in Marshalltown on Friday, and you know this on Monday you should be working the trucks that direction to keep from DH them 1200 miles, common sense right, well we are talking about people in an office......Panhandle flash, Scooby379 and hazmat777 Thank this. -
Well picked up load that wasn't suppose to be ready till 7am. Time for nap time.
I don't know who has been blowing JBS private carrier smoke. But I'm sure Fox Fire can probably even say. When they first started this company. They would sit 2 and 3 days waiting for a back haul load. Not go right back to the shipper. They had to get back hauls back to the plant area's. <<<now this is what I heard>>>
Fox Fire I'm sure can give the cold hard facts, but Dh 1,000 of miles was I doubt not in mind when they started this company. Most Companies Have their fright base, and then get back hauls back to their frieght base. That's how trucking works.
They use to send qual com messages saying they have 3 loads in michagan, 2 loads in Louisville, 3 loads in Greeley. If anybody is in the area with a back haul. Drop the back haul and take the meat load. <<This is what I SEEN With my own eyes over 1 1/2yr's ago>> Also sent out messages saying they were losing customers because we were always late, but it wasn't the drivers it was the load planners over booking, but blamed it on drivers. Why do you think they talk about on time % now???
Don't buy the company line bro. Really doesn't matter anyway because we are still getting paid even if the company isn't. You are the Clean up man on this run, and seeing your last few trips. 1,000+ miles dh + loaded miles. You will not be complaining.
