Strike?

There has been a few threads on this forum over the years about a strike movement. So why has it never been carried out? These mega-carriers hold us under their thumbs, and some of them... Correction, most of them pay their drivers less than minimum wage when miles x cpm / hours = less than $5/hr thats pitiful.

If you complain FM's starve drivers, don't get you home, or threaten with job loss. How is that anywhere near fair for the time and dedication that goes into this job that is not just that, but a way of life? A way for people to support their familys, how can someone at a desk have the audacity to take food out of our familys mouths?

There comes a time when change is required, we're being paid the same wages that drivers were 20 years ago, and I'm not pointing fingers here, as its true that there are good carriers out there... As such theres no reason why those companies should suffer. So once again this is pointed at the mega-carriers, that advertise a wage that means enough to put a roof over your familys head, in exchange for not being able to be there to see your children grow up.

We should strike for equality, for the dignity that these companies have taken from us... For our familys sake. Demand a minimum salary reguardless of miles, 22cpm? What kind of slap to the face is that? Do something... Change the way this industry is run, turn it on its ear and start a movement that will promote positive change.

 

Its quite funny all the threads that are in here, that are nothing more than people ######## left and right, however when someone suggests an action that in history has led to positive change for workers rights one is met with nothing but satire. Also, to properly calculate pay in cpm by the hour...

0.22 x 2500 = 550. 550 / 70 (which is the actual hours of service available to a driver per week, and assuming CRST even gets you 5k miles within a week to split = 7.85/hr. Obviously people here are less educated then I thought.

So, have fun with all that armchair warrior action, perhaps take a look at history before one starts pointing fingers again as well.
