Anyone who runs through CO has dealt with CDOT.....
They're no better...No worse than any other state's DOT...
Most of the time....
Sometimes...You have to wonder.....
I rolled through Dumont E/B this morning watching my axle weights on the board....Looked legal to me....
12K.....17K.....16.8K........17K........16.6K.....
Then I was told to "Park Left-Bring In CDL and Permits"
I get to the desk and the DOT officer is telling me I'm "1,800 over-gross"....
I knew I was real close to 80K but not over.....
I told her that I passed through the Loma coop and I didn't add any fuel...So how could I be legal in Loma but not Dumont?
She told me to get back on the scale and reweigh....
Sure enough....I scaled at 79,800.....Like I said...I was close...but not over....
This wasn't the first time I had pulled in and DOT claimed I was over.....
And I have rolled on the scales DHing with 150/g of fuel and their scales have showed I was 33K....34K.....
I know my tare at 150/G of fuel has always been about 32K.....
Any way.....
If you get pulled in and you know you're not over-gross...Don't be afraid to open your mouth and get a reweigh........
It not only will save your wallet from being bled....But your CSA score may thank you for it....![]()

I had an overweight load on heading out to Portland. Crossed the Huntington scale on i-84 and was told over the loud speaker to pull off to the side and bring in my paperwork. So I did and when I went inside prepared to give him my permit. He asked if I could do him a favor and cross the scales again. I said yeah sure but why? He said I wasn't paying close attention but I think your 38k on your drives. I said I am! Than I presented him my permit.

Anytime there is a question on weights, always ask (politely, of course) for a re-weigh. Never a problem with that.

What you don't want to do is start waving a CAT scale ticket in my face. Not helpful.
sevenmph, Working Class Patriot and Ops85 Thank this. -
Uh....I never waved a CAT Scale Ticket in the DOT's face but....
I got the "My scales are certified accurate and I trust them more than any CAT scale ticket".....Speech before....

Apparently....Some DOT take it as an affront.......
-
What if I just lay it on the counter and say,"Read it and weep."

-
Cat claims their scales are so accurate they will even go to jail with you.
Ron, do I need to post your wanted poster again?
As far as state scales being always accurate. If that's so, why do I always see them being worked on. It seems to reason that a Cat scale used a few hundred times a week would be more accurate that a state scale being used thousands of times a week. -
You need to update it....I'm wanted in Texas.....
-
Not another taxi I hope.
-
Again, really? I know you don't have another alternative, but I swear that you have a CDOT beacon on your truck, or something.
-
Naw....Nothing like that....All the Ron Paul supporters have declared war on me....
