You are so right Mike. That's why Drivers are overworked and under paid. And treated like crap because they don't know just how powerful they really are. I saw a story about Elephants. It said that elephants are the most powerful creacher in the world. But they break it spirit when they are young by tying it up with a rope. And when has grown up it thinks that the rope still is stronger than itself. So it will remain until all Driver stand up for more they will be walked over in life. :biggrin_25513:

Back in the days of metal trucks, this was not an issue. It is becoming the age of plastic body panels that created these issues.

Aero trucks are hard to build using mostly metal body parts. That and they are trying to make trucks lighter also. It is that fuel savings thing. LOL plastic Volvos etc weigh more then my 379 conventional.

But manufacturers and most companies could careless about how CBs work in trucks. That is the furthest thing from their minds. All they care is if the truck will haul freight and have a semi comfortable bed in the back.

You are right, but if their sales dropped they would notice and do something. Trouble is, drivers and companies got to make a living. And, if they need a truck to make money with they aren't going to not buy it just because of a CB issue. What we need is somebody to come up with a real good "no-ground" CB antenna. The current crop aren't that great.

It is what it is and I don't see it changing. What I'm afraid of is with letting in the Mexican truck driver we will eventually see rates go down because they will haul it cheaper............hope I'm wrong.

I tell you what, if I was incharge at one of the truck manufacturers, The manufacturer would have CB friendly trucks. Everything would be well grounded and linked for a good RF ground, there would be no CHEAP coax in them trucks either.

I have thought of an idea for plastic/fiberglass or composite body panels such as doors, hoods and roof caps. It involves some ground strapping material and some quick set resin to hold it in place before the part is installed on the truck. Then running strapping from all these parts linking them together and to the chassis etc. Unfortunately, we would still be stuck with antennas less then 6 ft long and they would still be mounted out on the mirror bracket due to height issues with trucks and over passes etc.

There is nothing I hate more then being put in a truck and having to spend weeks, a little at a time, getting the antenna/coax, and truck tuned to work properly with a CB. This also usually means more out of pocket expense on my end because the company doesn't care if the trucks stock setup works or not. As long as the truck runs good, gets decent economy and can pull the trailer then that is all the company cares about.
