    Whose your company?
It sounds like your last hurrah in the trucking industry. They'll report abandonment, theft or half a dozen other career ending notes on your DAC.

Not to mention if they figure out what your doing inroute the will have you stopped an arested for steeling the truck. Does the carrier KNOW you are planning to do this? If not, I would advise against trying to bobtail half way across the country, as they could easily report the truck as stolen, DOT pulls you over, and you get a ride to the big house instead of making it home. Not only that, but leaving the truck anywhere other than where instructed by the carrier to leave THEIR truck, and you will have a truck abandonment on your record...and they may be able to withhold recovery costs from your last paycheck or two....and if they cannot withhold under state law, they certainly can sue you to recover their loses.

You would be better off having your next job lined up and have THEM pay for your bus ticket from one carrier's terminal to their own.

I can't believe he's a 20 year driver because he would know the ramifications. Might as well go into your profile and change it to Trucker? ex-20 years. :)

Why are you headed to Vegas when your profile says Pensacola? Are you gonna win some money?

    Sorry to here all that.

Hold on to what you have temporarily and plan the job change even if it takes three weeks. Plan it out. Just don't get upset and quit. The hole is deep enough. No sense making it deeper.
When bad things happen, good things follow. You never know, you might have a better job, a better wife and a nicer house in the near future. Quitting ain't the answer.
