I think what he meant was that it's the younger generations that typically have no respect for themselves and others, and I tend to agree. Most of the problems I face on the road come from the younger drivers, not the older ones. Although, a O/O with 30+ years of experience who thinks they own the highway IS the worst of the industry IMO. You have slobs in every generation.

<<< the younger generation will be who you answer too in the coming years >>>
You may choose to answer to a younger generation but this is one "old" %$^%$#@ that never will, regardless of your false prophecy. And as far as technology goes, you are again making the mistake that somehow the "new" bunch is more advanced. Can't generalize like that. I give each man or woman the chance and judge them by their fruits...not by what I read in an industry publication or hear on a satellite radio program. This old guy is the go-to guy for computer troubles and networking fixes for my entire community, local & long distance, and that includes the younger generation. I have not had day one technical training and I wish I had been afforded the time along the way but I don't let that stop me. I'll put my school of hard knocks up against any age group.
You and I are just going to have to agree to disagree. I enjoy the student part of my daily life almost as much as I enjoy the teaching part. I have trained a horde of new guys to my industry and I tried to pass along some very needful ethics along the way.
The original poster of this thread started with "WE ARE SLOBS" and he/she typed out a little instance that happened in Atlanta that he/she observed. A couple posts down, it was noted that "out with the old...in with the new & attrition would take care of these slobs". How this went to a new more technological breed...I don't know. I am not offended but I am absolutely certain of my upbringing and my respect for other folks...young or old...if they indeed earn it by their deeds. Words are cheap. Actions are harder. -
I guess I really am old school. Still wear cowboy boots, wranglers, button down shirts, no tats and earrings! Don't piss in a bottle, don't use the steering wheel as a supper table, no GPS, no TV in truck, will stop and help a stranded 4 wheeler, I put my trash in a trash can, hate and very seldom use a Qualcom and elogs. Take care of the bosses equipment, and still flash lights and say thanks for the signal.
Guess I am a dying breed.straitgrl, reptij and freebirdrfd Thank this. -
I hope not Mustang I really do!
