I did the Nascar hauler for about 8 years. It is the drivers job to be sure the truck is stocked with all of the stuff the crew needs,(drinks, food and a million other things) No,The truck driver does not work in the pits during a race.
They sleep in a hotel room during the race and be ready to roll when the checkered flag drops.
Then when you get back to the shop you spend a day cleaning and polishing the truck, load up and go again.
Very little home time even during the off season, always taking cars to different tracks for testing ect...
You have to be 100% dedicated to that job. Great pay but never home.
I was offered a gig driving one of the Sprint rigs a few months ago.
Starting pay was over 100k a year but home time is more important to me.

Companies like upstaging are a pain in the ### to get into. The only way to get onto companies like this is if you impress a roadie or an manager. That is how I got on and I am not a truck driver, I roadie for a year and it is not all it is cracked up to be and you are usually on a very tight schedule.usernamehere Thanks this. -
Thanks, was always curious about that. I've only seen a couple of haulers one or twice rolling ...... never knew the inside scoop.

But the Number 1 is : Pharmaceutical, doesn`t get better.
Pharmaceutical comapanies make UPS look like a Dime store.
Had to say that, a buddy of mine, drives for UPS for 32 years, and Everytime I see him, I heckel him. IMO, UPS is a superior company.

Home time....after the season ends.
I do have to wonder though. Do they REALLY log all their on duty not driving time ??? -
So where do I apply?

Steelcase out of Muskegon, MI is a good one. Praxair is also good but only if it's a corporate ran terminal.
