Looking into schools and I want to make sure nothing surprising comes up along the way. I will be paying for the training out of pocket and taking 3-4 weeks vacation for the school. I don't want to get booted for something obvious.
So far I have done the following:
-DMV report (My report was blank, showing +5 points. Never had a ticket of any kind in 25 years of driving.)
-Scheduled DOT Physical w/ my doctor (I know I will have to do another one but want to make sure there are no surprises.)
-Criminal Background (Not sure how to get one of these but just received my concealed carry permit in the last year so assume it must be clear.)
What else should I consider so I don't waste my time or money?
Thanks!!

You are on the right track.
Go to your local DMV, pick up a copy of the CDL Manual and begin studying all related chapters for the endorsements you wish to acquire.
These three chapters will most likely cover your minimum requirements:
General Knowledge
Combination Vehicles
Air Brakes
Good luck!The_Road_Toad Thanks this. -

Thanks!!
Also have my TWIC appt next week and passport paperwork goes out the week after since both require an "original" birth certificate.
Looking to do this in January.
Anything else? -
Road Toad, what is TWIC? I'm looking at attending school as well.
-
Transportation Workers Identity Card...not needed if you're not going into the ports.
-
Some plants that aren't on a port require a TWIC

Good Luck !!
