Covenant wasn't a Christian company 12 years ago when I decided to work for them, so I doubt that has changed. In my rookie, rose colored glasses, it was why I chose them though. In the career I came out of I dealt with many ministers, preachers and churches and it was always a pleasure to do business with them. Covenant is a trucking company. The owner is religious, as is his momma, but that is where it ends. I found it a mediocre place to work, but for big training fleets, that may be a very high rating.
To the OP find yourself as good of a company that you can and tough it out for the first year or so. Once you get a year under your belt, an established team can write their own paycheck.

I'm not the most religous person but I was raised in church and I believe. If I see any company waving a christian flag, I run. It has been my experience that most companies who preach this are using it as a smoke screen to cover their real practices.
In all my life learnings and dealing with people and companies, I am most impressed by those who set an example and keep their mouths shut. You can spot a true christian from a distance and it's not because they are preaching or talking about their values, it is because they are living them and setting examples!
IMHO if you look for a company that professes to be a christian company, disappointment will follow you. If you look for a company that treats drivers well and sets examples you will be much happier. Unfortunately in our modern society, with it's lack of morals, principles and values, most don't think twice about telling you a lie to make themselves look better.
Now days I find most people and companies either talk a good line or walk a good line, but few do both. Most who talk a good line spend all their time talking, tooting their own horn and have little time to really do what they brag about. Actions speak louder than words.mtnMoma, lonewolf4ad, volvodriver01 and 1 other person Thank this. -
You could alway go to work for the "weirdo" in Amarillo, TX. that has JESUS CHRIST IS LORD" "Not a swear word" plastered all over his trailers!
Of course his equipment is junk and his drivers look like they're underpaid and starving!
But I'm sure he's a good "christian".....
The problem with most businesses that hide behind the image of christianity is that every "so called" christian business that I've ever dealt with were the biggest crooks around.
I am a non believer and I live life by a higher moral code than most of these "so called" christians seem to.
My advice is to find yourself a "good job" if you can and save the religiosity for a more appropriate venue -
Well, I stand corrected. I was under the impression that they practiced what they preached.
The only company I have ever worked with that was Christan based was Chick-Fil-A, and I was on the distribution side. And they were pleasant people to work with, didn't swear, etc. But from a casual bystanders perspective, you could see a cult'ish framework behind the corporation and the ownership of the stores.
Nicely put.
I don't know what the original poster is trying to accomplish by looking for a Christian based company. Maybe they want to set aside a day of worship, similar to Chick-Fil-A's model. In our 24/7 way of life, it could be a little bit of a hurdle for a couple of newbies in the business.
They fast a lot.

Yeah....I'm sure they do but as slow as those trucks are, They don't do it very "fast"!

I'm not understanding the "christian company" part. I mean, they aren't "christian loads" or "christian miles"... not gettn it. Believe what you want but work is work. Suck it up.

I have a friend whose daughter worked in the office of the old Risinger Bros Trucking. They were also professed to be a Christian outfit.
She was a load planner, and one time found a backhaul of new beer bottles. The owner of the company wouldn't let her book the load, because they were beer bottles. -
Seriously?
Just because they say they are christian based, doesn't mean they act like it. These guys are bottom feeders. Research a little bit on the forum and you will clearly see that. Actions do speak louder than words. Best advice I can give is stay far away from them!

Wiley Sanders may be what you are looking for. Not everyone a Christian but most of the training staff and safety staff as well as some of the dispatchers. Close to you also. Pretty good overall company, still a trucking company though.

Myself and a group of friends looked into opening a Chick Fil A franchise, but when we looked into it, it was the oddest franchise setup we had seen, and didn't pursue it.
