I am pricing a few loads out of SC into Memphis.
What are the rates like out of there heading back to NC, SC?
Trying to cover my bases on both ends.
Thanks

For RGN it is about $3.50/ mile.

Thanks Bill, any idea on Dry Vans?
I have a good rate heading that way but would like to see what is coming back.
I do not have any direct contacts on that end so for now will rely on the load boards. Just trying to get an idea. I know there are a lot of loads coming out of there and everyone of the big boys have a terminal there. Supply and demand seem to be about even. -
if you are only going back to the carolinas you will be at the mercy of what is availble at the time, that being said you should be able to get something out of memphis for 1.50+ a mile if you can find a contact. might check some of the load boards and landstar's broker board, quite a bit of van freight out of memphis everyday, good luck to you.

Schneider's load board has their rates at $1.25-$1.55 going to NC and VA, just so you can see how cheap they are running stuff for

Do you people honestly believe RGN's get $3.50 in that part of the country ... seriously ?

And how much do you think SNI is getting those loads for before skimming off the top ?
Fuel is @ $4 a gal guys... besides a good load + a poor load = a wash -
Spot market is all over the place depending on volume and timing, and how picky you are with time and destination. My experience is Memphis is a "medium" market. Not too hard to get out of, but not exactly flush with a lot of loads all the time. Usually around $2/mi is not too hard to get (reefer/van).
Looking at Members Edge shows a bunch on the board for Mon/Tue, but mostly two big brokers. That said, it's Sunday, so that's the leftovers from Friday night. If I look at it at Monday morning it will be a totally different list. -
Thanks Red, I have been looking on Members Edge. I try not to call brokers just to find rates, but might have too to get some hard numbers.
Thanks again
