Still really new to flatbedding. Since last post I have had steal coils and more plastic pipe but my load from Hell follows:

Picked up in Pevely, Mo. a load of styrofoam, stacked 13.6. Cool part is they lift and lower your tarps over you load once you have strapped. Cool.

Problem begins when I hit X335 at Burford, Wy. I pass thru two WyDot flashing signs indicating 50 mph gust, no light trucks. CB rings out, hey flatbed your about to loose your tarps. When I pull over at least a dozen bungies have snapped. I have to get up on the top of the load 3 times to maneuver the tarps back into position. I take the next exit and shut down. The load was only 6200 lbs but one pain in the _)*^@#. Decided to shut down for my 10 once I informed FM. Left out arounf 3AM to much calmer winds.

When I haul this load again I will bungie and rope much differently.:biggrin_25514:

It's a engine overhaul that is done without removing the engine from the truck. They can't do all the machine work that is done with a regular engine rebuild.

Have had to just put on a smoke tarp? I made the mistake of putting on a full one instead. :biggrin_25513:

Good job DA1! Very nice job with the tarps.
Forsaken... that really sucks lol Wind n tarps dont go together well lol I just got done tarping this repower, so I can drive it o... 11 miles lol 37,000 pounds of sheetrock. After tarping this one Ive decided to experiment with just bungieing the front/back n roping the sides. Ive got 200 foot of rope on this thing n not sure how many bungies. I hate those things. Foam loads are great for mpgs, but not much else, other than speed. Not enough weight to really help with wind, and it presents a nice target. Makes it harder to control the truck/trailer. Becareful with the winds! Another thing with foam is you cant tighten it down really good cause youll damage the foam. Give me metal I can tighten down as tight as I can get it. Of course... every load Ive pulled solo but 2, Ive had to chain so... lol Getting good at chaining though lol

Thanks ORD I guess ill be experimenting with rope when I go solo my trainer doesn't use rope and I think its a good idea to use it I do agree wind and tarps dont go together that well it sucks driving at night and the wind is under the tarps haven't had a foam load yet but I would like 2get one before I go solo for the experience

Prime's policy is to tarp it. Some tarps are pointless for us because of the regen system.

currently under a load of shingles, 47600 lbs! Still managing to get at least 8.0mpg for now. Just shut down in Oak Grove, Mo and headed to Brroksville, In. Hope to get a short run after that so I can see my 2 grand daughters in Erie for the holiday?:biggrin_25514:
