http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...ivers/16652-packing-list-for-students-17.html go to page 17 , post 168. Thats MY packing list for training or taking a bus or flight to orientation. That's also about what I keep in the truck Anything over that list I can afford to leave it or trash it before leaving. Yes even that $50 dollar scanner printer that you should have when finally on your own to follow another large post of mine about copying every piece of paper that crosses your fingers! Heck it's cheaper to buy another printer than buy the ink!

Remember there is not that much room in a truck. As I keep saying if it doesn't fit in the big bag you don't need it! You will not be showering every day! Listen, even when on your own if you have a driving only day do you really need a shower? Washing clothes on the road isn't fun! It can be a PITA and some places the water is so freaking hard your clothes feel like sand paper after being put through that mineral wash! OR you could have worn all 7 pairs of clothes and plan to stop to wash and you get dispatched somewhere else, the washing machines are broken, you break down and there is no washing machine close by and so on!

Also following the fashion crowd with wearing layers of clothes makes for a lot of crap to try to load on a bus and pay the extra charges for those extra bags just because you had to make a fashion statement? Yeah I guess at $50 to start on the bus per extra bag BUT, $50 PLUS the weight it gets real expensive to fly home and Thats how I do it because you think you need a bath? Some of the people on that bus could have been on it for a few days, stink to high heaven from smoking and didn't have a tooth brush! I'll fly thank you!

When training that IS the time to ask questions! When parked at truck stops or shippers and receivers watch what goes on around you.

There is not much I won't tollerate except for pigs. Look at the truck, if it is spotless then do your best to keep it spotless. Leave your shoes next to the seat by the door. Well unless your feet stink. Be prepared to drive if you are with me. Don't expect to just sit back and watch. But most of all, remember that YOU are the guest in HIS house.

    Be kind and courteous.
Don't be his slave, and if he treats you like crap, don't be afraid to call him out on it. And if it persists, call HR and get a new trainer....

And pray to the lord above he does not snore, a cab is a very small space!!!
