Thats funny cause mine did the same exact thing last week. Stopped at a rest area and turned off and restarted. Back to normal
Does this happen often?

Just a glitch that shows up once in a while
-
I've had a dashboard odometer that stops counting at random times ever since i got this truck. Using the qc odo to track miles.
Well, I called the dealer three times today, each time told they were going to pull the truck into a bay soon.
lol
Called my fleet manager to catch her up and she says she got an email from the garage saying my truck is NOT at the dealership. Called the garage and they don't know what I'm talking about. Called her back, she seemed to busy to bother with where my truck is or isn't and just wanted me off the phone.
The truck won't regenerate auto or manual, and it is losing power now. I drove with it as long as possible, but time to get it fixed. I've also been driving with a passenger side door that won't close unless you slam it just right, and one speed on the heater/AC controls on the dashboard. Not to mention the glitchy dash odo. Oh, and sometimes it won't start and you have to start the APU manually and charge the batteries a while to start.
Between my new fleet manager's attitude and my difference of opinion between her immediate boss and me about who should be planning my driving hours, I'm totally ready to go back OTR. He's not willing to listen to why things change plans out here, nor why I plan the way I have to. No wonder the rest of the guys on this fleet call him what they do.
Been really cool running the old places where I went to school and learned to drive a car and all that, but I miss seeing new places and such. With winter coming in as well, I'm willing to spend a month with a trainer to requalify on mountains then go back OTR.
The routes are getting boring, the same places all the time just in different orders. Winter is about to start messing with my primary route in and out of Chicagoland and mostly with the route to several delivery points in Michigan.
So, sitting at my nephew's apartment and waiting for the Fort Wayne Kenworth dealer to get the truck done. No income, but first time I've been off the truck for this long since I started this fleet 18 months ago.
Then it's off to Dallas and mountain requalification and back to OTR. -
Well here we go again.
Dropped my student at the Taj Mahal (Americas Best) just after midnight and drove to Amarillo with this load. DM said he'll repower me back to Dallas.
I don't have to tell you all, I'm leaving here shortly with the same trailer...on my way to Denver for my 0600 love affair with Safeway.
I have to admit, I enjoyed my night driving with the stars and a few other trucks,... radio blasting, not a care in the world.
I miss that sometimes.
I miss sanity, too.
Randall is flying another student in where I'll meet him tomorrow.
And away we go!
Told my DM, 'remember..Dec 1 is my 90...'
"Don't worry. We'll handle it."
Now you know why I keep a second med card from another doctor. Wanna bet I'll end up in BFE when they discover my Stevens med card is expired?
Questa è la vita di un camionista!
Sure can tell it's fall. Two nights ago I had to run my AC. Pulled into Amarillo this morning and it was 39 degrees.
Tomorrow, I'll be mixing cetene in my fuel.
Smkr...didn't someone warn you that dedicated wears on you after a year or so?
Welcome back to OTR (almost)
Well it's getting dark. Time to start rolling.
Stay safe everyone. -
made my drop in Riverside CA sunday, then hot footed it over to the TA... had a good conversation with a driver from florida that started same week I did.. had not ran into him in over a year.. he is training now, and had a student, and a former student with him... good conversation.. he had just left the yard, and said there were 86 students waiting for trainers... no wonder I keep getting asked to train!!! No thanks...
Monday it was off to bakersfield for my 2 picks, 45 miles apart, but both considered bakersfield????? So I called both shippers, and the one south of town near Maricopa, the order was ready, so I picked the second pick first... when I sent in my loaded and rolling call, the computer rejected it, location mismatch, and piece count wrong... called produce, explained, and off to the other pick north by the J... same thing happened again with the complete at pick/drop... stupid computer...
or should I say trying to micro manage the driver again...
Besides why would I drive 20 miles north of bakersfield first, then 45 miles south, and then 30 miles north to CA 58? Lots of wasted time and miles with that route..
So now I am headed for Target, Iowa again.
Sure wish I had some hours available to drive... I can make the appointment, will just be a 0 dark 30 start time on Friday.
Going across wonderfully windy Wyoming between storms this week... sure pays to check and understand the weather around home.
My DM can sure talk fast when he wants to, called me today to read me the list of 9 items to remind us drivers so that we are not the next roll over.
welcome back smokr to OTR... Many dedicated drivers I have talked with are tired of the micro managing coming from the new "team" in dallas. -
not when one needs it too...
Or stop the truck to get fuel, shut the truck off go inside, come out, start truck, and pull out, then realize no dash lights. Have to shut truck off, wait a minute, then restart... #### computers... and relays don't always link up. Hard to see the speedometer with out illumination... but the GPS lets me know how fast I am going. -
Well I made my drop in Ogden, then repowered a load out of Cali to Safeway in Denver. The lot there is under construction, so they're having us line up in the street and wait our turn.
Go around the block to get in que and pull up behind a Stevens truck.
See the driver out checking his tires so got out to shoot the breeze and it turns out to be Emul.
Small world.
I'm sure it's off to the meat patch after this one. -
wow.
The dealer is still chasing down codes on my truck. they got one taken care of, but it was an easy and minor one he said. The computer still will not let the truck regenerate and the exhaust screen is almost plugged. So no idea when I'll be able to get the truck back.
I knew the truck was having something odd going on Tues and Wed last week, but I had no idea it was basically having a nervous breakdown. lol
I wonder if that lightning was actually a strike on the truck and started this? Mechanic laughed it off.
It's been nice having some time off the truck, but, yeah.
And yes, I was told dedicated will wear on you. And it does. Getting a 34hr reset at home being your home time gets to be nothing restful at all after a few months. The new fleet manager was doing better than that here recently.
I'm glad I got to this dealer. I'd hate to have spent the week in a hotel. The food would have been as expensive as the hotel and I'd be begging for advances to live on. I'm not home, but staying at my nephew's place a half hour from the dealer. Still going to be a $90 cab ride though.
My 2010 Pete with a Cummins does that relay thing too. Dash lights don't come on and have to turn truck off once or twice to get them on. Hasn't happened in a while now. Got serial codes instead and inability to regenerate DPF system. -
Stopped for the day in wonderful slightly windy Cheyenne WY... beware, the wyoming winds are picking up and high wind watchs and warnings start at midnight tonight for the laramie range to salt lake city UT... I80 will be a mess friday and saturday again.
a balmy 34 as the sun decends in the west... Do enjoy the scenery across Utah and wyoming on these cold crisp clear days. -
Not far from home, TL. It's God's Country, to be sure. My Dad used to lease 100,000 acres of prime Wyoming dirt in Sweetwater County north of Green River...it calls me every now and then.
