    Well, got my load.
    Heading to Providence and Boston.
Let's see how much fun it will be trying to get freight out of the NE next tuesday!
But all complaining aside, I'm getting the miles and they are good to me.
Just wish I could get a load out of Brawley!

    lmao
nope! I'm about to spend a month on a truck with a trainer to requalify for mountains and DLD and such, that'll be more than enough time with a guy on a truck for me for a long time!

Hello to you Stevens drivers. I may be joining your ranks in the next few weeks. I've been "hired" once I accept and make my final decision. I'm currently in school getting my CDL, so I will be hired with a CDL and won't have to attend their school, I assume just attend orientation and training for 8 weeks. I've skimmed through the Stevens threads and I guess I like what I see.

What kind of miles do you guys average per week solo? What kind of truck are you driving, and how do you like it? Do you think Stevens would try any funny business with a new hire, as far as "hiring" me, getting me to go through orientation and training, then booting me for no reason? I have heard of some companies being that way, and it sort of scares me, or makes me paranoid.

Do you enjoy your job overall? Is it your first job driving or have you worked at other companies?

Thanks a bunch for any help.

    Welcome (almost)
Most of the trucks are T-700s, some 660's, a few cascadias and an ample number of Petes. Average fleet age is someting like 3 years.
All trucks are equipped with an APU, Inverter and a reasonable comfort package.
If you're up front with Stevens about any questions concerning DMV records, health concerns and prior history, then there should be no problem. Stevens doesn't 'boot' for no reason.

Personally, I enjoy Stevens. I've driven for other companies and after starting as a company driver, then over to the Alliance side, I just recently purchased my truck and am an O/O.
Stevens treats me well. They aren't perfect, but they are a heck of alot better than most other companies. IMHO.

Finally I have read every post on the Aviary and I feel like I am a buzzard already. Things are progressing nicely here. Clegg thanks for the info it is very helpful hope the ticket thing turned out okay. Smoker Grats on heading back to OTR.

Shifty Lots Grats on your OR1 enjoy the D&D next and keep us posted as to how it is going.

Talked to a government type today from the unemployment office and I am probably going to qualify for the local training school here and they are going to give a grant for it under the dislocated workers act. Finally I can recoup some of the taxes I have paid over the last 25 years.

I have to say I feel like Shifty Lots did when he was waiting. I love the trucker life style and can not wait to get things progressing.

I have to say that many of though close to my age or younger have become role models for me. I find comfort in the fact that you are all so perfossional and that you really treat each trucker and person with respect until they show they don't deserve it and then you still are polite.

Thank you so much for the information and knowledge that you have already shared I feel like I have been in training for the last week and it may be some of the best training that a person could get.

By the way I live in the quad cities and many of you are through hear on I80 or I74. If you are in the area give me a shout would love to talk.:biggrin_255:

Hello folks I found this product while reading to day and thought of you guys and how much this would save in time and money. The product is called the ValvePal and allows to find the value stem on the inside duel and remove the cap with a push and twist. Then you can take the duel tire inflation system and fill both tires to the correct air pressure at the same time. http://www.easycart.net/ValvePal/Order_page.html

Hope this is a help to you all I thought it might be a good tool.

Two to three thousand miles, depends a great deal on where you're running, who your manager is, how you drive and perform, and from week to week it varies widely.

Peterbilt and I really like it. Driven the T2000 a while, too, and it has it's advantages like the desk and lighter weight.

Don't think so, but I had such an experience myself the last day of schooling, and I wrote about it here. Seems like most of the stories I've read/heard about 'funny business' turned out to usually be something the student didn't reveal from their past that they should have.

My first trucking job, and I like it as much as I thought I would.. Has its bad and good days, but overall I'm enjoying it a lot.

Welcome aboard, almost, and I hope you find Stevens as good to work for as I have, or even better.

Got my preplan for Dallas today, picking up in Morris tonight for a Wednesday delivery in Fort Worth, then hit the yard. Too bad I have to turn in this Pete. When I get back from the trainer's truck I'll probably get a 660 or 700. Ugh. Or a T2000. I'll pray and politely ask for another Pete though.
