Amen , you make alot of sense... Screw defending Roehl

Personally I try to be "fair and balanced." My homage to Fox.

how is putting cameras in trucks that have driver issues bad behavior on the companies fault?? it has mostly to do with insurance and protecting investments (yes trucks are investments)...with the number and different types of people out there, Roehl is trying to cut down on risks...Maybe the camera will force a driver to drive differently when they know they are being watched... you have to think its a moderate sized fleet scattered throughout the US and when you have bad drivers (no offense to anyone that has a camera and thinks they ok..I am making a generalization) you run higher risks of accidents and damage to equipment due to stupid preventable issues...
My 2 corroded pennies...notezbngrn71 Thanks this. -
Ask them to put one in your truck and see how you feel. Let me state out front the web cam takes a pic of the whole cab. It also records audio. It's rigged up more sensitive than just a straight feed into the computer or qualcom. Like I said I had no calls on my braking untill after the camera was put in. I'm convinced that the the main reason the cam was installed in my case was due to a health issue I had to where I laid out for 3 months last fall not my driving habits. My on time delivery record is almost perfect over the 10 yrs I was with roehl.
Everytime you come to a light and everytime you take a corner your looking to see if the red light on the cam is flashing . If your not driving like grandma taking corners it will go off. The 3 times I got called on my braking only one was hard the other 2 were just firm , not hard , no skid. One thing that they got me on was one day when I was running all over trying to find an empty Ya know getting in and out of the truck. Well one of my braking events happened on that day and I wasn't buckled in so they wrote me up for the seatbelt not the braking. It's just one of those times where when your jumpin in and out and you forget. We all are imperfect and we all may take the eye off the ball just for a sec but thats all it takes and the cam will get you. Anyway I gotta grand total of 14 yrs w/o any traffic accidents, 10 w/Roehl. I've had a few little dingers around customers over my career mainly within my 1st yr of driving back in 97'. I have nothing to be ashamed of. . Not meaning to be critcal of you because I agree with most of what you said Mic but they can record all the data they need w/o the cam. If they had the cam just shooting out in front ya know over the hood that wouldn't be so bad but filming you inside the cab is unnerving. Just kidding about asking them to put one in your truck just be careful out there. Don't get so overconfident in your skills that you blame everything on the driver and the company can do no wrong. Roehl is out of line with the cams in my opinion, but as long as it's their equipment they have the right to do what they wanna do ya knowLast edited: Nov 19, 2011

My 2 corroded pennies...
Your penny's are corroded and have been run over by a coal train.
Think about it. if the driver is so iffy that you need to put cameras in the truck. Why are they working there in the first place. It micromanagement plain and simple. And defiantly not a plus for someone considering working there. -
what it sounds like is that for grinder they put the camera in the truck for his safety..to ensure he was ok...yeah it would be unnerving...but if your doing the right thing you should not have anything to worry about...I know its tough with all the morons around especially 4 wheelers...hell I had to brake harder than normal twice today in STL because I had 4 wheelers whip around me and then slam on the brakes...I don't know if they were tryin to hit the insurance lottery or not cause they had no reason to stop...but they were playing with fire..I was grossing almost 80k so I just kept my bubble everytime one would pull in front of me like I normally do...its a good thing I did otherwise I would probably be one of those being talked about on the accident thread

I know I said it earlier...if you don't like the rules move on...or get your own #### truck and trailer and be independent...make your own rules...get your own loads...
again its Roehls equipment and they will do with it what they want...If they want to paint hot pink elephants all over the truck with rainbows and unicorns they can...I won't drive for them if they did that...but again its ROEHL's equipment not yours or mine... -
hey havent been on here in a while anything new with jesse?
-
Thats what I said at the end , it's their equipment they can do what they want to. And yes getting your own truck are driving for a smaller outfit that you know up front that a cam wouldn't be a possibility is the route to go. You are correct sir
