I'm preparing to start trucking school in a few weeks and in my preparation, have started my pre-hire search for companies. After a GOOGLE search that returned over 5.2 million results, I've come to the quick realization that I would be retired before I even finished my research efforts through GOOGLE. :biggrin_2552:
So here I am, soliciting all and any objective advice I can. I remember as a parent, we all strived to get our children to listen and learn from our age, experience and acquired wisdom. Well truckers, I'm open to y'alls wisdom(s). :yes2557:

There are so many options to choose from. Best thing for you to do is go through the Best and Worst trucking companies on this website and read other drivers opinions about the companies they work for. Also, depending on where you live may determine who you go to work for as many companies hire out of different areas and not out of others. Good luck with school and keep us informed!

I think Pam & CREngland have their own schools & hire you on in one of their trucks & is free if you work for them for so long..

Does anyone know companies that publish "home weekly"? I simply cannot stay out away from other obligations more than weekly and have very little choice.

I highly suggest you find another career. Yes there are local jobs out there but you have to be very lucky or know someone to get them. There are thousands of experienced drivers looking for work and if you owned a local company who would you hire?

I think you jumped the gun. Trucking is a lifestyle and one that usually doesn't include home. Hence the higher pay! 90% of newbies quit within the first three months because they just didn't realize this or they did but I guess couldn't fathom it or believe it for some reason.

Save your money and time. Hopefully you can get reimbursed for school if you've only been there for a day or so.

I'm glad you confirmed my statement 90% of people paying $4,000 for school end up walking around aimlessly . At least those taking a shortcut haven't wasted thousands of dollars .
But you're wrong trucking doesn't include home . Carriers are moving more and more toward regional runs . I have no more than 3 or 4 restarts a year away from home .

Almost verbatim what I told my younger brother when he decided to become the 5th of 6 boys to drive.
Went to school, got a license and had a job driving a propane tanker inside of one week.
    Local, home every night.
I told him to go out and buy a lottery ticket.

Some people have all the luck!
