Well, we traded our Conneticut load for a meat load heading to Portland.
Into the eye of the storm.
This is the first true winter storm of the season for me and I have a T-1 student, so it will be fun.
Not worried tho. My student is from Wyoming, so he's use to weather.
Sheridan. So your neck of the woods, TLea.
Just heading across Kansas, towards Denver. Hopefully, we'll be able to skirt most of this thing. If luck holds out, I'll be able to spend the night in Boise and see my wife.
Stay safe everyone. -
I flew a night cargo run from Billings to Sheridan to Denver years ago. I love that weather, especially trying to land a very large airplane with blowing snow and very cold winds. FUN! I would volunteer for those runs any time.

Well, i am set to join the Stevens Crew at the first of the year. Heading to Dallas first week of January to start training, excited to get back behind the wheel again after 4 years!!
-
went back and looked at my records... the first year with stevens I was paid for 121,267 miles... makes my average 2332 per week.
Currently average 3,000 per week after 3+ years running solo. One does have to prove themselves, with on time deliveries and good communication when unable to make the appointment time.
Made my delivery to Target, and only took 3 hours to unload 14 pallets of grapes, all thompsons, and 11 pallets of cuties. Then it was down to Cedar Rapids, Heinz to pick up a frozen load going to fogelsville PA, for monday morning, then pre planned on a load from the other side of the warehouse, right back to Iowa City IA, for delivery on wed... wonder what I will get wed?
Setting in Hudson OH tonight, and will be at the Trexler Plaza on sunday, and then a 1 mile drive to make my delivery. -
I am ready to go..got the preapproval letter and talked with the recruiter. Just need to pick a date. I wonder if they train near and around Christmas. Also what would be a good packing list to bring to the yard
-
Ask your recruiter to give you a list. It's pretty complete.
-
Here's the list they sent me (includes the obvious)
Pen/Pencil/Notebook
Pocket Calculator
Boots/Work Shoes (Required)
Social Security Card (Required)
Work Gloves
Flashlight
Original Birth Certificate (No Copies) or Proof of Citizenship
Passport or Pass Card
Raincoat
Motor Carrier Road Atlas (Optional)
Coveralls or Overalls (Optional)
Sleeping Bag or Sheet/Blanket and Pillow
Voided Check for direct deposit
Outerwear for any weather types
CDL
Student Loan paperwork if applicable
Then I figured out how to upload it...Attached Files:

remember, you will be carrying all of that plus more papers and books with you for 8 weeks, between trucks, and on most trainer trucks the storage space is all used up, so you will be sleeping or moving your stuff to the jump seat each day.
Bring what fits in ONE duffel bag, and a sleeping bag. You will leave with 2 duffel bags if stuff. -
Sounds easy enough. Thanks for the insight! I still have the bag I drug around the planet on deployments. Fits under a cot, it should fit in the cab. Packing will be pretty much the same minus the uniforms and chem gear.
