That must be a new policy. I've never not been able to request both off, as long as I did it far in advance.
I was still getting messages from my old fleet manager last week, and he sent one out saying you needed to have home time requests for the holidays in pronto. He also said he couldn't get trucks home for Christmas, and then bring them back for New Years, so choose carefully. Nowhere did he say that you couldn't get both though.
They used to offer a $250 bonus if you stayed out over Christmas. The dates varied every year, but it was usually 4-5 days before and after Christmas, and you couldn't be laid over or broken down within 100 miles of your house. We did it a couple years, and then they took the bonus out, so we started taking Christmas off.

You are out of your mind.
I have cables, and I still hate chaining. -
Ladyk, I recall y'all were having an issue with safety changing your logs.
Specifically regarding line 4 when fueling.
Lol, after 10 months out now they want to come back and question?
Exactly how did you handle this issue with them at wvc.
I do know to have logs faxed to us!
Thanks much! -
We were 'requested' to come in and sign a paper that they 'talked' to us about it... We ended up having something like 11 violations all together. They put us on a short probationary period, but we learned how to use the 'active' drivers Comdata card, so it hasn't been a problem since. Needless to say Klingon was 'ticked' and he did some serious researching re: HOS - and as far as he could find - yes others (safety) can change info, but that is suppose to be when the in cab system was down... it says that the log is to be signed 'by the driver'... and once you 'approve' your log that is your signature - however it approves everything from that time backwards INCLUDING any thing that has been 'changed' - and they don't notify you of changes - so you are 'approving' changes that you don't know about... that was a major sticking point in our craw - but we were good company employees and signed the paper, and have minded our Ps and Qs since then. Do really push the issue would have cost us our job (most likely) so we didn't push - but it still bugs us.marlowhy Thanks this.

Gladly I am not a statistic and wisely the other person ran off before they stupidly became a statistic themselves.
A little after midnight and about five minutes after I woke up I heard a loud knock on my truck. The knock was wrong, my air vent was open so I challenged with a grumpy and loud "YEAH!!?" Silence and then the knock again this time louder. Once again I challenged with a loud and angry voice "YEAH!!? Speak up!" I then closed my bedside drawer which clicks shut with a sound similar to clip going into a pistol. I then grabbed the nearest weapon i could find, my laptop, and got ready to kill anybody who dared try to enter my truck. About 30 seconds later a four wheeler zoomed out of the truck side of the rest area. Not taking any risks I stayed inside my truck and drove it a mile to the weight station did my pretrip there and got on my way.
I'm fine, the truck is fine and that idiot is alive. Which is a better outcome than that idiot dead and me hurt in the process of killing them.
tdcanterbury67 Thanks this. -
Lady k, Hmmmm, something other than the catfish from miss. Is a little fishy.
Seems like we may be being "messed" with!!
The irony of being good company employees and actually being l/o is a bit much.Lady K Thanks this. -
That's an interesting bit of information considering the fact that the FMCSR only requires a company to maintain log records for six (6) months. Got wrote up on logs that apparently (10 months old) the company was not required to keep of record in the first place. Not a good sign.
I been out of the seat for 3 years and looking for a place to go to work which is why I am parusing this forum. Filed an e-app earlier today with Central...But man that sounds petty. -
As one who has been in a DOT regulatory agency for 27+ years, I can say this with certainty. The regulations require that records be kept for a specific time. That does not prohibit the company for keeping them longer. Many do.

Where were you?
Some of the rest areas can be dangerous. As the economy erodes further there will be more hijacking incidents. There was a Central driver that got hospital time from some guys siphoning fuel from his tanks when he parked on an off ramp. he woke up and walked out and they trashed him bad. -
Viewed ---and ignored.
