inside tire damaged... what could cause that?
and how mad are companies when that happens?
(drive tire).
also... while inside tire is gashed... there wasn't a "big bang" or anything. just happened to be bobtail and kicked my tires and the inner tire moved when i kicked it so I was like "WTF???" and investigated.
is that something i did or is it possible that it just happens when you get into those places where you have no choice but to go over rough spots in the ground at customers and maybe one of those got it?
it's on the side of the inside tire closest to the fifth wheel (not the part that hits the ground)
---thanks

When you say damaged is there a chunk out of it or is the side wall partially cut?

the sidewall is cut

Sounds to me like you might have ran over something, I've had railroad tracks do that to a tire if you are driving parallel to the tracks and you rub against the tracks with the side of the tire.
How mad the company is going to be is a difficult question, unless theey're a bunch of prix I would think it would be considered stuff that happens sometimes. Do they require you to bring the damaged tire back to a company terminal? If not, i would just call in and say i have a flat drive tire and dont volunteer any more info than they ask. -
big deal you hit something in the road it happens all the time.

Tell them to stuff the tire up there butt if they get pissy. Tell them the tread is seperating and that you need a tire. Get it replaced out on the road, not the terminal. Ask the tire guy not to spill the beans when they talk to your companys road service.

Yeah I have to agree it could of happened amywhere and these kind of things will and do happen. I seen a guy last week dropping a flatbed at a yard and ripped just about all the tread off his driver side drive because when he dropped his wagon it was loaded and he had 2 of the trailer ratchets all the way to the front. He destroyed the tire and ruined the ratchet.

I knew a guy who just drove on the highway until it finished blowing up so it looked like a popped tire on the highway.

A couple possibilities here, the tire blew which left a hole in the sidewall, which looks like a "gash" to you, or, as a previous dirt jock, we would get baseball size rocks stuck between the dual tires in a quarry or job site and if not detected, they would blow a tire if not removed.

I've never had a problem with getting a tire replaced. There's no telling how or when the tire got cut. Usually the company has an account set up with a national account and they'll just send you to the nearest outlet. They may want a picture, I know Roehl does. I've never had a problem with them trying to come back on me about the tire either.
