I am in San Diego, and I'm very interested in finding a local school which can help with the cost of school in some way. I really don't like to be chained to a company for years--Swift, as one exanple, says I'd have to work for them for 2 years to pay off the cost of the school....

I'd love some direction toward a reasonable cost of education. Any ideas? It seems most of these posts on this thread are from last year.

We are also accredited. But we don't make you take out a mortgage to come to our school.

    HOLY CRAP!

I have read about these darn schools, but I had no idea they were raping you newbies that bad. DANG!!!!

I could see the value IF they taught you how to drive. Facts are, they just help you get your license. $8217.00 just ain't worth it to me.

California Career School is located in Anaheim if you can travel there. Its a good school, I'm currently with them and got my CDL yesterday and am working on the bus. I should have that by the end of the month. The school is 15 weeks long if you do the truck and bus. I think the cost is a little less than $6,000 for that. It would be less for just the truck, I'm not sure how much though. Their website is http://www.californiacareerschool.edu/
