I read all these posts "I can't stop to eat ." "I have to cheat on my logs to deliver on time " etc. , etc. . Too many potentially good drivers leave because they can't take the stress . Driver abuse is self abuse . If you're tired , take a break . If you're hungry eat . If you get overly stressed you're going to end up quitting anyway . You can't go month after month running like that .
Use your head . When told to have a certain load at a certain point by a certain time check the driving time given by Google maps or truckmiles.com . Then add a 10 hour break if needed and whatever rest area or other breaks you need . If the scheduled time is before that say "Sorry , no can do " .
Afraid of dispatch ? If they told you to rob a bank would you do it ? Why not , because it's against the law ? Well so if falsifying logs . "The other charges against Van Duzee are violation of driver's records duty status, which allege he falsified driving log reports on May 31 and June 1, and obstructing justice alleging he gave the falsified log book to an investigating Illinois State Police trooper.
All the charges against him are felonies."

Your dispatcher is also committing a felony illegally dispatching you . He could also face charges but most often just the driver goes to jail .
Sometimes SMALL carrier owners are charged . http://www.oig.dot.gov/library-item/3389
CDL mills thrive on people getting stressed out and quitting . The more people quit the more people are needed from the mills .
Don't be played for a fool by the school you paid to train you and the BFI they sent you to . Have some self respect .
There is no excuse or defense for log falsification . You weren't forced . It was your choice .

    Good post Rick G.

It's called "care and control". The driver is the captain of the ship.

That's right and when things go wrong the captain will go down with the ship while the rats abandon it .
Too many people start with an abusive company then leave the industry because they think that's the way it is .
I have refused to meet impossible schedules with a couple of previous carriers and there was no retribution except I made less money than drivers working 80-85 hours and logging 70 .
Managers know they can always find a few spineless individuals that will ask
"How high ? " When they say "Jump"

I don't know if it's so much that drivers have no backbone or if its the fear of losing their job in this poor economy.. People are getting desperate to keep their jobs no matter what it takes so when a driver finally gets on, finally becomes a driver, he/she will do just about anything to make sure they don't lose their job. Especially since companies find drivers expendable now and know they will always find new flesh to use later on anyway! Companies are less tolerant because of the pressure to hold onto customers, Customers are desperate to find the best freight carrier, and freight carriers will do anything to keep those customers which is why the drivers are then pressured into taking illegal loads.. it's the way it is in the world we now live.. It's not so much the backbone but nearly just trying to survive!

If drivers had to actually prove what they did on paper then well the industry would have a standard,,but companies just look the other way and claim that they dont force a driver to do anything that isnt legal,it was the driver's fault,,and so it goes

RickG, your on a roll.:biggrin_2559: Little do some of the new drivers realize, the driver mills make a TON of MUNEY, if they can keep pushing them in, then show them the exit door. They signed the contract, so, there up sheeps creek. They will have to pay for the Schooling. They get them on a technicality, and Fire them, legally. NEXT !!!!

It's not just the transportation industry either...it's most all places now a days that you do what ever you have to do to keep your job.

It's part of the reason why so many ITs, managers, white collar job, factory worker etc are becoming drivers and getting their CDLs

There's only ONE CDL for a driver but...there are multiple endorsement(S) that a driver can have.
