Thank you Mistwig, for all your ideas, recipies...![]()
Yes, I had a couple of those and used to slcw cook soy beans and other beans while driving but not sure why, their fuses burn out after a month or so and melted the plastic plug.... I couldn't find those fuses to buy anywhere.... Bought a third slow cooker but haven't used yet... afraid the fuse will burn again....
So, I have been using that little stove that looks like a black box (for my brown rice) and use propane gas burner (yes I do) to cook vegetables and other stuff while I'm parked. So far, those are working pretty well.![]()

the lunchbox is an amazing little tool. yup, the crockpot doesnt last long with constant use, but it does the job when it does work. when ours burns out we will get the regular crockpot on the truck. the really good thing about all the appliances we have, is that they are ALL tax deductable as tools of the trade. hubby just loves all the different things i can cook for him on the truck. and after this year mi will be a tax deduction too... lol.

Yep, those fuses burnt so quickly because the soy beans and other beans take at least 8 hrs to get cooked...
So, I have been eating can beans.... which is not very healthy or very nutritional IMO....
I wish I had someone cooking for me too.
Sometimes it's very tiresome to cook after 10 or 11 hr driving.... and I end up going to bed with just a quick snack. No wonder I lost 20 lbs since I started trucking....

go to compactappliance.com.i got a pair of compressor driven 40qt. ac/dc ref.,freezers from them about 4+ years ago.they still work great.plug in cig.lighter.they cost about $500..i seen ta's charge more than that for those little 23qt coleman ac/dc fridge freezer.i don't work for them or anything.just a satisfied customer.

I assume you mean $50.00. Not $500.00.

i live and swear by the crockpot/slowcooker.not the trkstp version though.i bought a $10 Rival crockpot 4yrs ago and have cooked just about everything in it except for a poor experience trying to make chinese egg noodles,i'v had some far better dishes from it than some of the common food offerings around.it's easy to just put it in there and let it cook while you drive, occasionally stir when you stop for fuel etc..thanks to baby wipes,it's easy to clean(just make sure to wipe out w/wet washcloth after the baby wipe to remove that residue)quick easy cheap spaghetti--1 jar of your favorite spaghetti sauce,1can drained fire roasted tomatos,1 green pepper,10 large button mushrooms sliced,1 package jimmy dean pre-cooked turkey sausage.put all in the pot,let cook/simmer all day.20 mins before your ready to settle in for some dinner, add 2 packages of ramen noodles, quicker and just as good as regular spaghetti needles, stir once to seperate the noodles after 10mins,wait 10 more minutes and you have a wonderful, filling, hot dinner.uumm uumm.enjoy
Lady K and harleysmith64 Thank this. -
soory, meant to say ramen noodles are just as good as spaghetti noodles,i suppose spaghetti "needles"might ruin any good recipe huh?

The plastic crock pot liners make clean up a snap, just wait till it cools down and lift it out! Just don't use any utensils that poke the bag.
-
