Have been lurking here for a while but just signed up. Just droping in to say hi and hope to meet new people and learn more things on here from a current wannabe to a future trucker.
Not much to say just turned 23 always liked trucking but im from south florida and out there no opportunities because of my age and bad economy, my dad is a ex trucker (end dump combination) he retired since the bad economy he was only working 2-3 days a week.
this year i moved to western kansas to try and get ahead in life, as life in south florida is really hard unless your family is wealthy, i was not getting anywhere down there. im working in a meat packing plant (yea i know lol but at least im glad i have a job), trying to save up some money first, since i know the first few months in trucking are bad. Seeing all the rigs and refeers everyday has me aching to hit the road.
i plan on getting my cdl sometime next year.
sup everyone

Welcome to TTR, and Kansas..
Yep at least you have job. The plant you're working at is Garden City? I think it used to be one of IBP's plants, now Tyson. I was born and grew up in Emporia. When IBP sold out to Tyson, then Tyson basically shut down the Emporia plant, the population shrunk fast. I know it was I think the largest employer in town. My dad worked for IBP for a short time.
Anyway, there's plenty of information to be had on these forums, and highly recommend taking advantage of it. Read and research as much as you can, and you might wind up with a B.S. degree in truck driving or well, a lot of B.S..
