Here is some advice don't park next to a reefer they are loud. I don't know how I made the mistake of parking next to a Stevens truck. And what makes it worse.is the way I pulled in its impossible to get out because some body is parked behind me in a no parking zone and the struggle to get out just isn't worth it.

I have a reefer, and when parked, I will either turn off the unit or put it on continuous run if I have to keep it cold. The constant starting/stopping is annoying.
volvodriver01 and SHC Thank this. -
I keep trying to figure out how not to park next to a reefer but there's always this one that is following me that I can't seem to shake.

Doesn't matter if you park next to one or not. If you pull a tanker or flatbed, and the spot opens up next to you, rules of averages seems to be that a noisy old reefer truck will park there once you just start to drift off to sleep

As for the guy parking in the no parking zone, if I want to leave and I can't, I will bang on that drivers door till it falls off. I don't give a crap if he/she is upset or angry there is no reason for them to block in anyone. Just tell them you need to get out and they can take your spot if they want. It's a no-parking area for a reason and most guys out here today just don't care anymore. Common courtsey is a thing of the past
I had a canuck park his truck in front of me overnight and when i woke up, i could not get out (with a tanker even) so i woke him up and asked him to move his truck. He was Croatian (thats what the decal on the side of his sleeper window said) and he was the most rude, foul mouthed driver I had met in a while. he reufsed to move his truck and went back into the sleeper after calling me a few choice words. So I continued to bang on his truck and he yelled from the sleeper that i need to make him move....... so i unhooked from my trailer and backed my bobtail in front of him. Once i started putting the chain thru his tow-hooks he quickly changed his tune and moved his truck. I know i could not move his truck, but he didn't want to see me try it LOL!!JohnBoy, American-Trucker, Rollover the Original and 5 others Thank this. -

Lol, I'm a reefer driver and I try to avoid the high idlers with a broke spitter. The reefer doesn't bother me. If I have a choice, I always park off to myself in the back corner, so not to bother others.
It never fails, here comes that broke spitter guy and parks right next to me. I guess the same goes with ones that don't like a reefer next to them. You try to avoid something, you attract them like a magnet.volvodriver01, ew2108, JohnBoy and 2 others Thank this. -
Sometimes you don't have a choice, and even if you do, there is no guarantee that one isn't going to find his way in the spot next to you at some point during the night. I suggest the ear plugs, or start running nights so you can park in a half empty parking lot during the day.

My hubby pulls a reefer, and has had several flatbeds park next to him when he's already parked at a truck stop, even though there were plenty of other spots open at the time. Sure, there are reefer runners out there that do that crap, but my hubby has had it happen the other way around more times than he can count. I've been on the phone with him many times when it has happened too.

Reefers are quiet compared to apu's. I would much rather have a reefer running next to me, even if it is in cycle mode, than an apu.
