The echo will actually make your radio sound crystal clear if used properly but most drivers think they have to sound like they're in the grand canyon.

Then when you tell them that they have too much echo they even turn it up even more and start saying stupid crap, I just turn my volume down and truck on. At least I know I am not the stupid one. 10-4gravelhauler Thanks this.

Frankly, to listen to the majority of folks on the radio out there now days, stupid might be too kind of a description; and to watch them at the truck stops and see how they look, i.e. their dress and personal hygiene, it's kind of embarrassing to admit you're a truck driver anymore.
They used to say 10% of the truck drivers gave the rest a bad name. I'm afraid the percentages are closer to being reversed now days than most of us would like to admit!
Big John Thanks this. -
I think he has a BIG base station because I can sometimes here him on the east coast at times as well.

Sorry but this is just me...I immediately turn down the volume if I hear any echo. Even if the driver is specifically calling me out for whatever reason, the chances of me coming back are pretty freaking slim. I can't tell you how many times a driver with echo has called out for a bear report and NO BODY responded. And many of those time that driver has had a bear within a couple of miles directly in front of him. Sorry, but if you have echo, I'm not giving you a heads up, directions, etc. Call me a jerk or whatever but thats just how it is... Think about this, if someone called you and they had echo in their cell phone, how long would u put up with it until you said, "hey, your phone is screwed up...ill call ya back". Ya, echo is...ugh...Nevermind.

I enjoy listening to good audio. And if it has echo, so be it.

I like the guys that are running down the road carrying on a conversation with the truck in front of them and have their linear turned on. I guess they want to make sure they make the distance with no problem.

I agree with you. If you have echo on, I will not talk to you. More times that not, the driver doens't know how to set it. Even a properly set echo sounds annoying to me.

I hate eco and reverb. My connex has it and it can't be turned down far enough to make it sound any better then with it completely off.
More then once, I have convinced drivers to let me help them make their radios sound better. They had too much eco and reverb. They would say something and I would tell them to turn it down a little more. This would go on until they were completely clear and clean sounding. Funny thing is they would come back saying that it was turned off now. I would tell them they sound awsome, a few minutes later they would be back to talkign like they were talking through a can in a cave. I would then ignore them as they kept calling out my name.
