After a 25 yr abscence I returned to driving for Swift.
During my 12th mo. I rcvd a warning and a citation
That was dropped. They terminated me 5 days before
my 1 yr and crucified me on the DAC report. Clean MVR,
clean PSP. I pray that Swifts policy isnt standard. SOAT

Is your profile info correct? You're a 10 year driver, but had a 25 year absence from....is it driving in general or driving with Swift? This thread will be hard to follow.

hey, exact same happened to me, i was terminated 1 day before year was up for "insubordination", did not agree with inexperienced DM wanting to send me into dangerous construction zone for fuelling 50g, i was already parked at a safe Flying J, the after our DM opened up the 50g fuel for me at the safe location with NO problem.
DM went to complain about me and I was fired same day I was going to start my annual leave.

Previous day, same DM wanted to send me 130mi one way -opposite direction of pp load- to p/u mt trl. I dared to ask wheather I actually need an mt because it could save the comp money NOT to go 260mi roundtrip for mt - DM insisted I MUST go get mt - I did as told - 20mi on my way, same DM told me that I do not need the mt and could bobtail to get my load!

was I fired because I gave good advice? NO, because this DM was always lazy and did not do his job, and did not want a driver to always point out
his mistakes and shortcomings!! THAT IS WHY I WAS FIRED!

now i have a big problem finding a job because my DAC shows "dismissed , not eligle for rehire" and an "accident" f 08/10/10 when I drove over right curb on my very first day of driving with my mentor on a public road, off I-10, El Paso, Rush Hour traffic! The citation was removed by traffic court, NO damage to equipment whatsoever! Mentor did NOT adhere to training policy - not to take a new driver ibnto rush hour city traffic on first day!

There is more: I hit my knee on steering column, thought nothing of it but it was swollen for many days and got worse, finally ask the comp nurse where to find a doctor, was immediately sent to a clinic after I had to report this as a workman's comp claim. I was treated several days at clinic, had pt ...and sent on my way, had more problems with knee, got worse, still have pain - however 2 month after I had treatments at a clinic SWIFT insisted I must go to, they denied the worker's comp claim!! and I was left with all of the medical bills to pay myself!!!
I did not mean to file a claim in the first place, did not want their clinic but was forced to go there then refuse to pay - only to create financial hardship for me?!!! I am still in Industrial Court to fight this claim and I am still having knee problems -
Swift's attorney offered me a $1200 settlement, when my medical bills are already at $4000 and all of the time and agrevation I had for no reason and totally unsuspecting and innoscent!

    @southafrican:
You need to be made aware of the fiddle d!***r$...these are the type of employees that stand around & act like they're doing something but don't actually ever produce anything that benefits the company, they just put in enough work to keep them off the bosses radar.Meanwhile, the real employees have to pick up their slack...Good Luck, hope you recover from your health problems 100%...at least with your health you'll be able to work & take care of your responsibilities

  7. What I want to know is WHY?

Why do people WANT to go to work for these companies?

Do they not know that the bigger companies do not give a rats ### about you or your problems?

They just want you to sit down - shut up - and drive a slow truck with the least amount of miles they can give you.

I'm not a big fan of small companies either, but sometimes they treat you better than the bigger ones.

Keep in mind, individuals can say anything they want to about the company, but if the company comes on here and says similar things about the individuals, they get into some serious hot water.

I don't know the specific circumstances behind any of these situations, but I will say, judging by the tone, there's more than a little animosity here. I have never personally seen a company go out of its way to burn someone's house down. I would be willing to bet that entry has been there all along. Too bad you didn't bother to look sooner.

No damage? Then why was it reported as an accident in the first place? Should have been reported as a citation only. Yes, I know...the cop who wrote you up jacked you, too. Must be more to it than that.

Regarding insubordination...seems pretty apparent to me. You don't storm into the office and raise hell. I don't care how great you think you are.

By your own posting, SouthA, in other threads, you were a severe underperformer anyway. You averaged 1,500 to 1,700 miles/week. That's not entirely Swift's fault. So, now that you're expected to earn your keep, they are the mean ol company.

Swift is getting tired of prima donnas and prefessional tourists. If you're not here to work, get out so someone who wants to actually produce can have your truck. If you're a company driver, that means going where they tell you to and doing what you're told.

Here's a clue...It's not your truck. If Swift wants it fueled 50 miles down the road, well, it's their truck, their money and their decision. Too bad you want to stay somewhere else. You want to make those decisions? Lease or buy your own truck.

I was starting to see a pattern there too..everything that happened was someone elses fault...so things might be but not be.
