Georgeandson does make very good points. Just sit back , turn down cb a bit, pay attention to everything around you, try helping out your fellow drivers on the road IF they have their cb's on.
Don't get stupid.
And when the time comes, put a dollar on the seat and I'll back your truck up for you. That is how I started in 1971, by backing the truck up for the boss's son.
Randygeorgeandson and Wargames Thank this. -
Well put !!! Need more just like you in this business.the best part is "Dont get stupid!!!":smt064

WOW.... Some of these post are disgraceful if you ask me....
Just because you have you CDL doesn't make you the king #### of driving a truck... In every type of industry from driving trucks to doing paperwork in a office people will make mistakes... Just cause you went to University for 8 years and now your a doctor you telling me they shouldn't make mistakes or need help... Cause well they should know how to do everything cause they studied and wrote some test????
This is part of the problem with this industry... Too many drivers have bad attitudes towards each other and they think if they can back up without a problem that everyone else should.. Like the OP said why not help a fellow driver out.. I mean would it kill you to help the guy out.. Instead of making things worst for other guys, why not take the maybe 1 min it takes and help him out... I bet your ### if he hits your truck blinding siding you'll be pretty pissed.. Cause not only did he just damage your truck now he just cost you a whole LOT of time as well.. So for the 1 min to help him out is it really worth even chancing a accident.???
I have a guy almost hit me in the dock a few years back trying to blind side.. Almost hit the front of my truck would have cost me lots of time.. I was doing paperwork and happened to look up and see he was pretty close to hitting me.. I got on the air horn and he stopped.. I got out and helped him out.. It didn't cost me a days pay or cost me a few hours of my time.. I can tell ya it would have cost me a few hours of my time if he would have hit me I know that for sure.... Oh ya BTW he was most experienced then me.. So anyone in the industry can screw up not just new drivers
As for the showers and stuff..... I think not showering is gross and if you can't take care of your personal hygiene then that says something about that person.. But with that said.. This is non of my business if this person wants to be a slop so you kind of have to take this one as it is... The person is a slop and that is all there is too it...Lonesome, grizzly, Jarhed1964 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I have no problem helping someone blindside, but the OP comes off beeching about how anyone who's been out here for years never showers, is a blowhard with a big radio, doesn't know where the toilet is, etc.....the same old rants noobs have been espousing for decades. It always seems to end with the noob drivers calling everyone an outlaw supertrucker......yawn.
Reminds me of the ankle biter dog yipping in anger at the big dog chasing the stick.EZ Money, dancnoone, puncher and 1 other person Thank this. -
You can't demand respect, you have to earn it. And most of those guys watching you attempt a blind side know less about it than you do.
Wargames, fortycalglock and dancnoone Thank this. -
Yes. We sue the #### out of recent Med school grads down here.
Can I offer you some cheese ?
Disgraceful comments? That cuts both ways? I've seen many a person come in here, and the first time they get offended. They pull the "I got X years of education you blah blah blah." Never once considering the person they are talking too. Has that SAME educational level (or more).
When a person throws that comment out. That lets me know immediately, they've always considered truck drivers beneath them in the past. And we as lowly truckers should immediately fall on our knees and show our respect.
And I've always wondered were those "participation" awards came from. The north......
Unlike todays and some of yesterdays generation. Most of us over 45 grew up in a reality that told us, "You can do it". Then they placed every road block in our way possible. To insure when we actually done it. It was because WE done it. And we wanted it bad enough.
Have you seen the news lately ??? The majority of the "occupy" idiots. Have been told ALL their lives, "It's okay, you tried."
Tries...but failed. Isn't good enough. Holding their hands ?? Not gonna happen.
Am I a complete ### hole? Depends on what your definition of complete is.
If someone ask me for help. I will help, if they listen. And I often offer my help, unsolicited.
Maybe the lead forum rule should read: This ain't real. It's the web. These folks ain't your mama, your friend, or anything else. They don't OWE you anything. Cop an attitude, and you'll receive back 10 fold. Experience or not. -
####....man ain't even got his first cup of coffee down. And been jumped 3 times already.

I DEMAND YOU LIKE AND RESPECT ME AT ALL TIME FOR EVER AND EVER.
