Trucking prejudice

Okay Rick, I'll bite, What's the point of the story?

 

Think.......peanut butter.

 

Next time you get a trucker magazine, count how many blacks or hispanics are in it. Look at any agency Oodia , ATA etc. See how many blacks are on the board. Look at all the advertisements. It would take you 10 magazines to see a blk or hispanic in there.

 

Most of those ads and websites are probably using stock photography from stock photo agencies . . . have to use what's available. It's pretty expensive to arrange a photo shoot for custom images.

 

you know this is kinda sad cause i see this first hand, last week i was comming off 465 exiting onto US31N, well there was a woman driver in a CR England rig that first off went to the all the way right lanewhich i knew ended, so i got on the mic and gave her a heads up.... no response....later just up the road she was in the all the way left lane wich ended a half mile up in a left only lane again i got on the mic to give a heads up...no response....guess what when we hit one lane construction and me and another driver stated that if CR England would help block traffic the 4wheelers would stop cutting in at the last minute...I followed by say and yes this might have been rude but i was annoyed, I fired across the radio....."guess CR drivers truck don't have CB's or aren't traing to use them"....mind you the rest of were drivers for smaller trucking companies. She got on the radio and for the next 5 min proceeded to bash the rest of for treating her like she can't drive......where did we ever really say that.

anyways i always offer the helping hand but i do it tactfully so they dont fire back im a PIG....or something more XXXXX. I have no prob with women drivers but heck rude is still rude....forum member go ahead and lash me but i doubt i am out of place

 

the ones that aint earning them be the skinny ones....

 

In South Texas, white is the minority....... and I see plenty of them with jobs so i think it is a sterotype. Now pay wise, I don't any border town companies paying more than a few cents per mile as there are really no other jobs down there and it's all about supply and demand.

But up here in Chicago anyone can get a job driving a truck...and unfortunatley I mean ANYONE. Even the one's that have no right to be behind a wheel, it gets scary.

 

I guess there is no stock photos for hispanics and blacks...

 

Not in the trucking category. I've been to most of the stock photo sites before hunting for photos for graphics jobs. It's an under-served market. There are plenty in the more generic categories, but not in trucking categories.

Also, a lot of the companies are using the same photos and ads that they were a decade ago.
