Hello all hope everyone is doing good this morning and are being safe. I have a question I will be starting at Stevens on 01-03-12 for orientation and want some info? From people who works there maybe to let me know how it is. I have seen alot of bad stuff about the company from people who don't work there. All I know is I'm ready to work I have kids to take care. Any info would be great!!!

Extended team is after D&D. They were pushing that over 3 years ago too. You will get no more miles than you do during D&D. There is always a wait and a list for a truck. Just part of the operation. End of the year always makes it worse.

Extended teams is paid at 26 per mile for ever mile the truck is dispatched and you each get half. You are also limited to 750 miles per day.

    Shiftylots Thanks this.

You found this thread take some time and read it you will find out what many drivers for stevens have to say both good and bad. Then ask specific questions and you will get answers from the members of the aviary.

    One word of caution.
If you have small children, OTR trucking may not be a wise choice for you. Sounds good going in, but after a few weeks of taking care of the kids by herself, the spouse can get aggravated. You being gone 5 weeks at a time can cause family strife.

This is not a great choice for someone with kids who wants to spend time with them. You will be gone for over a month at a time and then home for less than a week. Those kids will miss you, and you will miss those kids and your spouse. Make sure you both are willing to spend that kind of time apart and have that little time together.
You will miss holidays, school events, even graduations and vacations. It's not for everyone. It's even more so not for someone who likes having time to do things at or to the house. Someone will have to shovel snow, mow the grass, fix this and that, and all those things while you are gone. You'll also have a 'honey-do' list pages long when you come home, so that hometime will be spent doing those things, things with the wife, things with the kids, and little time to do things you like to do for yourself.
The training period is a good example of how long you can be away from home.

Interesting..nobody in my grad class had to wait weeks for a truck. Heck, our trucks were waiting for us!:biggrin_2559:

So you can team for $.125cpm and 375 miles a day, or you can run solo at $.26cpm and run 550 miles a day...hmmm:biggrin_25517:

no, you would make $.26cpm and 375 miles a day / or $.125cpm and 750 miles a day.

You split one or the other ... not both.

There used to be a truck stop near South of the Border called Porkey's. It was down past the fireworks place on the left. It was still open, but there wasn't much to it anymore, last time I was there in '08. There is a good Mexican place within walking distance. About two blocks back towards the highway on the right. Good luck, hope you find something to do ... or they take it early. :biggrin_25525:

Just so you know. Twin Lakes / Dillon County Country Club is just down the road from South of the Border. I haven't played there, but it's close. It's just down 501/301 (the road SOB is on). Go south to E. Country Club Road and take a right. Closest one I found for you. Was just curious being a golfer myself.

    Here's the link.

The team rate is 36cpm, and I never said there was a shortage for sure, just said it seems there may be. Purely observation, not fact. I .36cpm at 4000 miles a week is $1440 gross. Split two ways is 720 a week. At .26 solo you would have to run 2800miles to gross the same. I am really not interested in the extended team option I was really just looking for insight.

Thanks for the help guys, Stay Safe. Start OR2 in the morning.
