so i have been driving for around 7 months and just a few days ago experienced high winds for the first time( not the taco bell kind)
i was east into browning MT, and when i started heading south i was hit with severe gust, i was caught off guard and had nowhere to hide, my speed was around 25mph as i was in town.
i only had 3k in the nose and nothing in the back (ltl), and it got so bad that on around 3 occasions my pass side tandems got lifted off the ground by upto a foot, after doing what i could to keep it under control i managed to find somewhere to sit it out, and rerouted myself in more easterly direction for a while.
is there anything some exp drivers have come across to help in these situations, i mean in this situation i was in the open, so didnt have an immediate option to sit it out in safety, all i had was some forward momentum to try and take some power out of the gust!
any advice would be gratefully received!![]()
tips for not blowing over!

With that light of a load? PARK IT. I run flatbed and would still have issues with that light of a load.

Park it. Don't even try to ride it out without any kind of weight in the box, especially if it's all in the nose.
volvodriver01 Thanks this. -
Agree,The only choice you have.....volvodriver01 Thanks this.

Then attempt to explain it to Doris the Dispatcher! It's cheaper to reschedule a load than a life or a totaled truck and trailer with the tow and recovery bill that will cost!volvodriver01 and snuffy1 Thank this.
