i have 3 straps hanging out on my rig one on each step attached on the underside of each of my top steps and one on my catwalk. the catwalk is for holding my lines when swapping trailers, and the other two are for holding the fuel nozzles in place....lol for what diesel costs i am not spilling a drop.

 

Thank you! Finally, someone that understands how radio waves work! The "bullhorns" irritate the $#!% out of me. I can't help it. I often find myself thinking, "are u really that much of a supertrucker or are you seriously that stupid?" I know its a pretty jerk think to be thinking but I can't help it. LOL It's just one of those things that drives me crazy.

The beam width on most overheight sensors is wide enough an antenna won't trigger them.

It's because they think they need this super-long antenna that they can't possibly mount properly, and end up tipping it forward so the bridges don't destroy the whip. And as mentioned above, thereby destroy any advantage the longer antenna would have given by leaning it forward.

They are usually much shorter than the height of the trailer, even if they were straight up.

I think it is just ignorance, maybe thinking that pointing it 45 degrees forward gives it more range - like a garden hose.

 

I think those drivers are still in touch with their child hood and their old bycicles that had tassles on the handle bars so they decided to install them on their trucks sence bike riding in no longer an option.

 

We tilt ours due to the fact a 5.5 ft antenna straight up is tall enough that if you go in a shpr or recvr that is an inside dock it doesn't knock your tips off.

 

Trucks with tassels, I never thought about that. After my thread on this topic, I came to the conclusion the ones doing this were all morons thinking they were grounding their truck with a RUBBER strap.

 

Think I'd rather go buy some shorter antenna's then to drive around looking that "super-truckin-moron". Don't take that the wrong way, Im not calling you that at all...just saying, everyone is thinking it when they see your antenna's so if it were me, I'd have to change em.
