Except that it's still better than you can get on your own. It's not going to help Roehl as much as they think. Those stations that they get the huge discounts at are always the ones we hate going to because of the long lines. If I get the same price at a slower station up the road, guess where I'm going? Those slower stations are slower because they don't have the negotiated discounts with the big carriers.

I don't know why anyone would lease on to a company. It just seems like a way for companies not to have to pay for benefits and have someone else make their truck payment for them. Either get your own authority or don't bother. As a company driver I always had the freedom to just walk away.

There are a lot of reasons to lease to a company instead of running your own authority. The opposite is also true. It just depends on what business model fits you best. An o/o also has the option to walk away, it's just more complicated, but with more options.

Most O/O are leased to a carrier in some way shape or form. That is the best way to run, and not have to worry about collecting your pay. The carrier handles that, they pay you, alot of times before they get paid. That way the O/O has a steady cash flow. As for leasing a truck... I won't go there. There are many benefits to leasing to a carrier, there is alot more risk going out on your own... Too many headaches.

I'm now on the side of the fuel discount really sucks, I looked at the cost now versus 2-3 months ago and I'm figuring I'm losing 100$ -150$ a week in fuel now.

Just payed off the balloon payment and am now waiting for the title, was told 1-2 weeks then off to a different company.

So sad Roehl has to go down this path. I was really thinking about leasing to get my own truck. I now see that going O/O or L/O with Roehl will not be an option for me.

What is the deal with the fuel program at Roehl. Do you get the same discount as Roehl? What is the surcharge there? I was just wondering. I am glad we chose not to become IC's there. I wasn't liking what we were being told two years ago.

We did get their discount, but now they capped us at .08 at pilot, flying j, and .05 at loves,ta, petro, and that is only if we use tch card.....really load of crap and has me looking at other companies. it is a shame I really liked it over here, but really hard to deal with losing close to $200 a week

    roehl929 Thanks this.
