Okay, guys, I respect all of your opinions and would like to know what you think. Is it better to drive a tractor trailer for UPS Freight or is it better to drive a tractor trailer for UPS Parcel? Please explain your answer. Please keep in mind that this poll is to be voted on as if you had the choice to go straight into driving a TT for either one without having to work your way up.

UPS Freight, only because I couldnt do the part time for $8.50 then cover driving a package car than full time package car driving than finally getting into a tractor trailer........No thanks!

Freight will hire you directly into driving, that is the only reason I vote for them. If both would hire you full time into driving tractor trailers, it would definitely be UPS parcel.

What is the estimated wait time to be either a part-time or a full time feeder driver if one goes into it as a seasonal driver? Can a noob with a CDL get the seasonal position?

I think if you hit up the browncafe you will get much better answers to your questions about driving feeders. I dont know of any feeder drivers on this website, and a bunch of guys are going to just come in here guessing, or giving you 3rd hand information...."My uncles cousin did it in 1984 and hated it DONT DO IT.":biggrin_2559:

Interesting! Five people so far have voted for working for Freight as opposed to the Package side. Freight is 5:0.

I think its pretty well known how long it takes to become a full time tractor trailer driver at parcel.

But they are pretty highly respected on the road. More respected than freight probably.

I voted parcel based solely on cash. I've been the co man, drank the kool aid, did the nights and weekends "for the team" but now I'm all about me and cash and they pay better.

That's just beyond awesome AND THIS IS WHAT YOU DO!!! :biggrin_25521: I would absolutely love to be able to do that.

About the poll, well, it is my hope that folks would vote with the mindset that if they had an immediate choice to just go right into either one full time, which would it be? Yes, that's fiction, but it would give me an idea of how everyone feels about the job, which is really the whole point of the poll. Too bad the others didn't say why they voted that way. By the way, I can't even begin to thank you enough for your thoughts and insight, HW.:biggrin_25514: Hope the folks at Louisville UPS Freight are good people to work for. That's a long-arse drive.
